I have a 14y Boston/Yorkie mix.5/14 took dog in for bloody diarrhea and not eating.Odd chatty vet, provided vague information. Didn't read or didn't have updated chart informing him about dog's existing heart murmur, and bad teeth. Diagnosed with whipworms, told to treat all dogs in the home with Panacur 3 days every 3 months for rest of life. Yard can't be treated due to their durability and life cycle. Meds at office were $250 - we found elsewhere for $70. Treated all 3 dogs for 4 days, 5/15-5/18. Called on 5/19 because elderly dog was still having bloody diarrhea and not eating. Hadn't eaten solid food for 8 days at this point - besides one egg I finally enticed him morning of 5/19. Dog was 19.4lbs on 5/14 and down to 18lbs by 5/19.Was told to bring in second stool sample, delivered it same day before 2:30pm.Called next morning on 5/20, now dog has hookworms. 3 more meds needed - dewormer, antibiotic, and stool firmerPick up meds and ask questions. Receptionist went back and forth to back room to ask vet my questions 10 or so times. The vet did not come to front desk to answer questions directly, but I could hear her from front desk. When asking about treating home or yard for hookworms - vet said "burn it". Receptionist returned and repeated comment, laughing. I paid for meds and returned home to administer to dog.5/21 update to previous review. Previous was submitted before opening bag of meds provided.Meds provided for 18lb dog with bad teeth and who is not eating -- HUGE tablet for stool firming, antibiotic, and Panacur granules to be added to food.I called again asking for suggestions on how to administer meds to dog who has not eaten in 8 days. Receptionist gasped with concern and said "did we know he wasn't eating?" Of course that information as provided on 5/14 and again on 5/19! Put on hold for receptionist to ask questions, returned to offer me two more meds for purchase - to stimulate appetite and paste version of med I already paid for. She also emailed info on bland diet, which was not provided by vet on 5/14. I suspect she read my previous review, as she called back 5 minutes later and stated "the vet was unable to speak with you directly due to being in surgery, but you're welcome to return for another exam". I understood that, but "burn it" comment was still rude. Receptionist denied vet making the comment. I then became very upset crying stating the information that was provided was not helpful, they provided incorrect meds, and notes were not accurate, but WE had to pay for another exam and new meds? Receptionist doubled down and stated she was SURE vet went over bland diet and that the staff was "unaware Scruffy was not eating"...I disconnected the call cause there was obviously no point in continuing the conversation. I did my own research and somehow managed to find a way to get the meds provided in my dog's stomach. My husband followed up and spoke to the same receptionist and she again doubled down and said that they were "unaware Scruffy wasn't eating until 5/20. My husband talked to her about the staff's incompetence with charting and inappropriate bedside manner. Receptionist offered to have office manager contact him, they never did. I sent a long email detailing our experience that has still not been responded to.Vet who made "burn it" comment called husband today, 5/21, to address concerns. She seemingly still defended the incompetence in charting and lack of information provided about the bland diet. Husband mentioned again incompetence in appropriate charting, providing appropriate meds, and inappropriate bedside manner - Vet said "we'll work on it" in a very dismissive (almost laugh) tone. She did offer to provide another exam on 5/22 at no cost IF our dog does not improve with eating and firmer stools. Hopefully it doesn't come to that.Extremely disappointed in the staff - my dog is 14 years old and may very well be in his last days. They were careless with their actions/words and of my family's grief in potentially losing our dog. If only zero stars were possible. - Jessica Cox
