The core offering of ARISE Veterinary Center is comprehensive 24/7 Emergency and Critical Care, complemented by a wide array of specialty services for both cats and dogs. The hospital is equipped to manage everything from sudden poisonings and traumatic injuries to complex organ failures.
- 24/7 Emergency and Critical Care: Round-the-clock staffing by emergency veterinarians and board-certified criticalists for immediate life-saving interventions, intensive care, and advanced pain control.
- Specialty Surgery: Services provided by board-certified veterinary surgeons (like the highly-regarded Dr. Bates mentioned in patient reviews) for complex procedures, including orthopedic, soft tissue, and emergency surgeries.
- Internal Medicine: Diagnosis and treatment of complex non-surgical diseases, such as endocrine disorders, infectious diseases, and severe gastrointestinal issues, often utilizing specialized diagnostic technology.
- Advanced Extracorporeal Therapies: Offering highly specialized services such as Hemodialysis and Therapeutic Plasma Exchange, which are vital for treating acute kidney failure, severe poisonings, and toxin-specific illnesses. ARISE is one of the few facilities in Arizona to provide these life-saving services, particularly on an emergency basis.
- Diagnostic Imaging: Advanced medical equipment, including CT scanners, sonography (ultrasound), and digital radiography, for rapid and precise diagnostic tests.
- Intensive Care and Monitoring: Providing sophisticated patient monitoring, including mechanical ventilation, advanced blood pressure support, and in-depth case management for the most critically ill pets.
- Clinical Trial Participation: Engaging in clinical trials to advance veterinary medicine, which may offer pets access to cutting-edge treatments not yet widely available.
- Blood Bank: Maintaining a blood donor program to ensure readily available blood transfusions for animals experiencing shock or severe blood loss.
- Poison Control: Expertise in managing acute toxicities and coordinating with external poison control centers for rapid, effective treatment.
ARISE Veterinary Center distinguishes itself in the Arizona veterinary landscape through several crucial features:
- Level 1 VECCS Certification: ARISE is noted as the only Level 1 Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (VECCS) certified hospital in Arizona. This is the highest possible rating for a 24/7 emergency and critical care hospital, signifying elite preparedness, comprehensive resources, and specialized staffing, including board-certified criticalists on staff.
- Dedicated Specialty Expertise: The presence of multiple board-certified specialists (Surgeon, Internist, Criticalist) means a higher standard of care for pets with complex or multi-systemic illnesses.
- State-of-the-Art Facility: The large, multi-story hospital is designed with multiple treatment rooms, including 'comfort examination rooms' for compassionate end-of-life care, a quiet Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and dedicated rooms for specialized procedures like dialysis.
- Extracorporeal Blood Purification: As one of only two veterinary facilities in Arizona offering Hemodialysis and the only one offering it on an emergency basis, ARISE provides a vital, life-saving option for pets with acute renal failure or severe intoxication.
- Collaborative Care Model: The team prides itself on its strong relationship with referring veterinarians, acting as a supportive extension of a pet’s regular veterinary care provider.
- Compassionate and Personalized Service: Despite being a large, advanced facility, pet owners consistently cite the staff's friendly demeanor, frequent updates, and small, thoughtful details—like correctly remembering a cat's gender or putting a blanket over a cage—that reflect a deep commitment to patient comfort and owner experience.
In a life-threatening situation, time is of the essence. Pet owners should use the primary contact number for immediate assistance.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This hospital is AMAZING! My dog Miller was moved to this location for an emergency surgery last month after another company misdiagnosed him. His chances of survival were very slim but the team at this location worked a miracle to save him! He was in the hospital for a week and received two surgeries total. The staff was extremely friendly and encouraged us to come visit Miller as many times as we would like. The whole team sent us updates, pictures of him, and were happy to answer any questions we had, day or night. The team still reaches out to us to check up on Miller and it warms my heart that he was looked after by an entire team that cared deeply about him. From the doctors to the nurses to the front office staff, we can’t thank this team at Arise Veterinary Center enough for saving our dog Miller! 🐕 ❤️
October 09 · Nicole PowaliszThis is going to be a long review, but I truly cannot express the gratitude I have for ARISE and their team. Our cat, Mango, had kidney stones blocking both of her ureters, preventing any passing of urine and causing kidney failure. We were told by multiple vets that there was very low likelyhood she would survive, with multiple of her indicators off the chart in the negative territory. My wife and I were devastated as our precious Mango was only 3 years old.We were finally referred to ARISE by an internalist in Tucson, and we were told that ARISE could take Mango in for an emergency double-ureteral bypass surgery. We raced from Tucson to Queen Creek and were met by Dr. Edward Baker and consulted on the procedure. This was the first time in 2-3 days where ANYONE gave us hope that Mango would survive. He explained the surgery to us, and although there were potential complications, finally provided us some comfort we could see this through. My wife and I are so thankful for the pre-work that he put in while coordinating with the Tucson internist. We proceeded with the surgery and the ARISE surgery team, lead by Dr. Miriam Bates, stayed multiple hours past their standard end time because they knew this was a life-saving/life-threatening condition and Mango likely would not have survived the night. The surgery was completed with no issues and Dr. Bates personally called us to give us an update on Mango's condition. THANK YOU to everyone on that team that pushed through and stayed late to help Mango. Some other notes:- The overall cost of the surgery and recovery ended up being cheaper than the quote by a couple thousand dollars which was really great.- The front desk staff was so friendly. I forget the gentleman's name, but there was a male front desk worker who was so friendly and instantly remembered us from the first time we dropped of Mango.- The veterinary technicians were also all very friendly. We very much appreciated that they remembered that Mango was a girl (orange tabbies are most often males) and correctly called Mango "her" and "she". This was a small detail but we really appreciated it.- The team was so thoughtful and put blankets over the cages in the back to help Mango calm down/relax and hopefully be able to sleep. This did not happen at the previous emergency location we were at.All in all we would recommend ARISE to any of our fellow pet owners and we are so thankful for the care we received.
October 03 · Nathan CasslerThe entire staff at Arise ER were so kind, patient, and attentive! They were very thorough and spent a lot of time answering all of my questions-Which I really appreciated because i was very nervous dropping my dog off and having her sedated for an urgent unexpected surgery. My Great Dane is doing a lot better now, thanks to Arise! Dr. Perkins, the techs, and all the staff were amazing!
August 20 · Amanda Goldstein-KlokovGrateful for Compassionate and Competent CareI’m incredibly thankful for the professional and attentive care my puppy Ally received at ARISE Veterinary Clinic. The doctor conducted a thorough exam and quickly diagnosed an ear infection, something that had been missed just two days earlier at Queen Creek Veterinary Clinic. From the moment we arrived, I felt Ally was in good hands. The team’s competence and kindness made a difficult situation much easier to navigate. Thank you, ARISE, for treating my puppy with the care she deserves. You’ve earned my trust.
August 22 · Gala QOur sweet Annie developed a lump on her leg that turned out to be cancer. Luckily we noticed it in time so it didn't spread to the rest of her body but we had to amputate her leg. It was devastating for all of us but the staff at Arise held us thru the entire journey.Dr Carter and his team made the initial diagnosis. Taking blood samples and communicating the results confirming what we thought.Dr. Fruehwald performed a successful surgery. Her consultation was very thorough. She described the cancer, presented our options, explained the risks and even performed an exam of Annie's joints to ensure her body could make the adjustment to a three legged life. The staff....the amazing staff. More people than we even know loved on Annie and cared for her as their own. She had an army of caregivers. We are beyond greatful to her nurse Shyanne. Her knowledge and professionalism put us at ease. The care and compassion Rebecca provided us was priceless. Her level of commitment to the care of our Annie provided such comfort during this scary time.Everyone made themselves available to us to answer questions, look at photos, offer suggestions and put us at ease...and none of that is billed. It's out of love. It's impossible to truly express our gratitude to our Arise Army of caregivers. Our world has changed forever. Thank you for helping us into this next chapter with such compassion, professionalism and care.
