★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Staff is very friendly, however pricing is outrageous. Brought my 2 cats in for a rabies shot and annual checkup. Walked out paying over $500 and even though one cat was not behaving well enough for the checkup, I was still charged over $100 for a 5 second weight despite asking to have the charge removed. Completely ridiculous. Will not be returned and don’t recommend others should either.
July 16 · Shelby SchipperLet me be clear that I think emergency vets are angels and this doesn’t necessarily apply to the staff, however, I had a super frustrating experience last night and I think there needs to be a better system put in place here.My 5 MO puppy had swallowed a corn cob. We did the right things by taking her in instantly. After about 45 minutes, they took her back to a room, without really telling us what they were doing. Another 45 minutes go by and a vet comes out to get more information and gets you to commit to whatever process they may have to do ($700!!!, might I add). They told us they were going to take her vitals and then they’d do X-rays, then induce vomiting. Cool. I asked if I could be with my dog considering every other patient (even dogs that were also there for corn cob ingestion) got rooms and they said no. I assumed because they wanted x-rays of her (and that they were going to do that in a timely fashion). At this point, we’ve waiting 2.5 hours and nothing has happened, not even x-rays, and we were kept completely in the dark on what was happening behind the scenes/the fact that they had gotten nothing done at all. They told us it would be an additional 3 hours to get x-rays. Plus, more if they needed to induce vomiting after that. So we essentially wasted 2.5 hours there for nothing to get done and were looking at an overnight sitting in a cold waiting room, without our dog.I understand if there’s more critical patients to tend to, but the fact my puppy was locked in a room or other area for 2.5 hours by herself (and without her mama) for the majority of the time and nothing happened, plus there was ZERO communication to us about what’s happening behind the scenes when we were about to willingly fork over close to a grand is frustrating. Not a super positive customer experience. I suggest 1) hire more staff, have someone’s full role be being behind the scenes and communicating next steps and timelines with the parents (or have one of the 3 front desk ladies do this…). Nearly every patient there was calling the front desk every 10 minutes to ask the vets for updates because they weren’t communicating to anyone at all, it seemed. I would be livid if my animal were in a critical state. This would also free up vets from having to report updates constantly and keep them doing important work. Also, don’t take the dogs “back” for optics/to make parents feel like something is happening if you aren’t going to touch her for 3 hours. Let her stay with me. Finally, if you’re at capacity and it’s going to be 6+ hours before my dog is tended to, be honest and tell us to go somewhere else, even if we’ve been waiting for hours.I had a super positive experience with VCA in Mt Pleasant, SC and I think from a management perspective there could be some process and ops improvements here that would have made our experience much more positive. I hope my feedback is considered because these services are critical and I want them to be available if I need them in the future, but the experience I had gives me pause to return in the future.
July 23 · Lauren BjortomtI’ve been using this clinic since 2001. I have seen a lot of staff come and go but they have a great group at moment. I have a Chi/terrier mix and he’s a bit aggressive to put it mildly. They all handle him so well and are very understanding about his situation. He’s a rescue and never got socialized plus the type of dog he is doesn’t help. He gets great care despite the challenges of dealing with someone that wants to attack you the whole time he is there!! Grayson and Emil in particular make his vet visits a little easier because they’re both so great with Mr. Mongo!! I really appreciate all that they do!!
June 09 · Sally PeaWish I could give zero stars. Went in for an eye exam for my cat because he had some discharge I wasn’t comfortable with. We were prescribed an ointment for his eye. Only after a whole week of using it and mentioning at his follow up that he had been throwing up did they inform us that the medicine is TOXIC for cats and could cause liver and kidney failure. After trying to poison my cat we were only offered half off bloodwork that we shouldn’t have had to pay for in the first place. Not only that but while seeing me visibly upset and on the verge of tears after seeing the price the vet we saw gave me incorrect information regarding my cats diet and told me he will develop diabetes (without doing any testing to see if that was true or not). When we originally declined the bloodwork since we didn’t have enough to cover the cost they vet came back into our room and tried again to get us to pay for bloodwork we absolutely do not have the money for. 0/10
January 23 · Jaisalyn WilsonThe staff was very kind and caring. The vet tech was very in tune with our dog and didn’t push him to do things when he showed he was nervous. Dr. Jones was very kind, professional and patient.
