Arizona Veterinary Dental Specialists - Gilbert Introduce
For pet owners and general **Veterinarian** practices throughout **Arizona**, when a routine **Dental Cleaning** or tooth extraction proves too complex, specialized care is paramount. **Arizona Veterinary Dental Specialists - Gilbert** stands as a premier referral center, focusing exclusively on the critical and often life-saving field of **Veterinary Dental Services** and oral surgery. They are not a general **Animal Hospital**, but a specialty clinic dedicated to resolving severe and intricate dental and oral health issues that can dramatically impact a pet’s overall well-being and quality of life.
The clinic's expertise is centered on advanced procedures, such as treating aggressive dental diseases like Feline Odontoclastic Resorptive Lesions (FORL), managing extensive oral masses, and performing reconstructive surgery. As proven by real-life outcomes, the specialized nature of the care here can be transformative, leading to dramatic improvements for pets who have exhausted options at primary care clinics. For instance, pets facing conditions like severe periodontal disease, which can lead to jaw deterioration, are given a second chance at a pain-free life through the skill of specialists like Dr. Mike Balke and Dr. Malott, who literally "saved her life" for one grateful client's cat.
The team is recognized for its combination of clinical excellence and heartfelt compassion. Clients consistently highlight the professional and thorough approach of the veterinarians, who take the time to fully explain complex surgeries and alleviate the anxiety of **Pet Parents**. For senior pets, particularly those with existing health challenges like irregular heartbeats during anesthesia, the expertise of the dental specialists in managing the entire surgical process is invaluable, ensuring the safest possible outcome for extensive procedures like the removal of gingival hyperplasia.
If your local **Family Vet** advises that your pet's dental problem is severe or complex, involving advanced bone loss, oral tumors, or the need for a full-mouth extraction, a referral to **Arizona Veterinary Dental Specialists** in Gilbert is often the critical next step. Their focus is on the most challenging cases, ensuring that pets receive the high level of **Specialty Care Services** necessary to achieve successful outcomes and restore their comfort and ability to eat normally.

All services are provided as **Onsite services**, meaning the full range of advanced dental and oral surgery is performed directly within this specialized facility.
**Arizona Veterinary Dental Specialists** provides a deep and comprehensive array of **Animal Dental Services** and advanced oral healthcare options. Their status as a specialty clinic means they are equipped to handle cases far beyond the scope of routine **Vet Care**, often involving critical and chronic conditions. While their primary focus is dentistry, their expertise extends to ancillary diagnostics and general health support necessary for safe surgical practice, including care for **Exotic animals** where applicable.
The specialized services provided include:
- **Advanced Oral Surgery:** Complex procedures such as gingival hyperplasia removal, oral mass/tumor removal (a form of **Soft Tissue Surgery**), fracture repairs, and reconstructive surgery for severe trauma or bone loss.
- **Treatment for Advanced Periodontal Disease:** Specialized therapy for severe gum disease, which can include deep-tissue cleaning, bone grafting, and complex **Dental Cleaning** procedures to save or manage affected teeth.
- **Full-Mouth Extractions:** Essential, life-saving surgery for conditions like FORL (Feline Odontoclastic Resorptive Lesions) or severe, untreatable periodontal disease, often preventing jaw deterioration.
- **Advanced Diagnostics:** Utilizing tools like specialized **Diagnostic Imaging** and **Diagnostic Tests** to assess hidden pathology below the gumline, including **Bloodwork**, **Routine Blood Work**, **Urinalysis**, and **Urine Testing** for pre-anesthetic screening, ensuring patient safety.
- **Anesthetic Safety for Senior and High-Risk Pets:** High-level monitoring and expertise in **General Anesthesia** for older pets or those with co-existing conditions (e.g., irregular heartbeats or kidney disease), minimizing surgical risk during lengthy or complex procedures.
- **Specialized Disease Management:** Care for challenging conditions such as **Canine Cancer** when it impacts the oral cavity, **Kidney Disease** management related to anesthesia, and addressing chronic conditions like **Osteoarthritis In Dogs** that can be affected by recovery.
- **Pre- and Post-Surgical Care:** Including thorough consultations, pain management, and dedicated post-operative follow-up calls to check on the pet's recovery, a hallmark of their personalized **Patient Care**.
- **Emergency & Critical Care:** While primarily a referral specialist, they offer the surgical and medical expertise required for **Urgent Medical** dental issues and are co-located within a facility that offers 24/7 **Emergency Veterinary Care** and **Emergency Medicine** support.

- **Comprehensive Post-Operative Support:** The follow-up is exceptional, with the staff and doctor calling multiple times after surgery to ensure the pet is recovering well, demonstrating a commitment to patient well-being that extends far beyond the operating table.
- **Focus on Difficult Feline and Canine Cases:** The clinic excels in complex cases, such as full-mouth extractions for cats with FORL and extensive gingival surgery for boxers, often tackling growths that have returned after prior, less specialized attempts.
- **Holistic and Compassionate Team:** The entire "whole team" is described as "very caring," providing a high level of **Personalized Care For Your Pet's** needs, from the initial explanation of the procedure to the final follow-up.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I recently brought my senior boxer in to have a pretty extensive oral surgery done to remove his gingival hyperplasia and possible tumors. I was a bit nervous as we had had this surgery done twice before with his primary vet and he had irregular heartbeats during the surgery and both times the growths came back, even worse than the time before. From beginning to end, Dr. Malott was amazing. He took his time explaining the surgery and answering all of my questions. I am so impressed that only 3 days later my old man is acting normal and eating well. The office staff followed up multiple times to make sure he was ok, and provided a level of service that all should strive for. Dr. Malott has given my pup the chance to have a better quality of life throughout the remainder of his years and for that I thank him. Highly recommend.
June 21 · D StantonI was referred to Dr. Mike and this practice by 2 other vets that could not help my cat.She had tooth problems so bad that she had to have all of her teeth pulled , and she's a fairly young cat she was on the verge of losing her jawbone , even. But I was very happy with the service and the care that we got from doctor mike and the whole team at the dental specialist team. Very caring even called that night to see how zoey was doing. Just to let you know I recommend this place very highly 👌 zoey had to have all of her teeth removed. She had some kind of a dental disease. Called FORL where her teeth were being dissolved by her body, which would eventually lead to jaw deteriopatient. They literally saved her life. If you want a good vet, go here. Arizona veterinary dental specialist doctor mike balke.
October 10 · Lavina NolanI can’t say enough good things about Arizona Veterinary Dental Specialists. My 13-year-old dachshund mix has severe dental issues and needs most, if not all, of her teeth removed. We recently discovered she also has stage 2 kidney disease, so the idea of putting her under anesthesia was very concerning for me.From the moment we arrived, the entire team was kind, patient, and incredibly helpful. They took the time to answer every single one of my (many!) questions without rushing me and explained my options in a way that was easy to understand. I truly felt they had my dog’s best interest at heart and wanted to make sure we made the safest choice for her.I left feeling reassured and confident about the plan moving forward. If you have a pet with dental concerns, I highly recommend them — their compassion and expertise are unmatched.
August 14 · Heather FourbyArizona Veterinary Dental Specialists are amazing! The staff is incredible. They are very knowledgeable, skilled, and kind. Dr. Malott took very good care of my little Luna, explaining everything to me thoroughly. He even personally reached out the evening after her procedure just to make sure she was doing well. They communicated with me during and after her visit, answering any questions that I had. I would 100% recommend them to anyone looking for a veterinary dental specialist.
August 08 · Julia MattoxThe absolute best, most amazing Vet I have ever met! - And there's a vet in the family! Dr Balke is a giver of hope. He is patient and kind, thorough, compassionate and a skilled surgical genius. We are so grateful to him. Still nervously awaiting biopsy results on our girl. But I feel very confident that he saved her life. She's only 7 and was battling the very aggressive CAA. Everything is going exactly as he advised which is surprisingly easy. Having a "Feet don't fail me now" moment. Who knew a partial mandibulectomy would go so well?! If you are on the fence about his recommendations I would definitely consider everything he has to say as the best possible outlook for your best friend. Thank you Dr Balke. No matter what's ahead for Miss Gilda Radner I will always be grateful. Have hope, and trust Dr Balke. Don't give up if he says there is hope. Will come back to post pictures of Gilda Radner after she heals more. The ones shared are just to provide a face to our love and gratitude. She's still healing, it's been less than 48 hours post-op, and it feels a little soon.
