For pet owners in the Glendale area, Banfield Pet Hospital is worth choosing primarily for its unique emphasis on accessible, budgeted, and standardized preventive care. The Optimum Wellness Plans® simplify the financial management of routine pet health, encouraging regular visits that are proven to extend a pet’s healthy lifespan. The inclusion of services like unlimited office visits and two comprehensive exams per year under the plans removes the hesitation many owners face in seeking early medical advice.
Furthermore, the convenience of having an on-site Veterinary Pharmacy and a wide range of services—from vaccinations and microchipping to dental care and spay/neuter procedures—in one easily accessible location is a significant practical benefit. The hospital's commitment to accessibility, including physical accommodations and being an LGBTQ+ friendly space, also fosters a broadly welcoming environment for all Arizona pet families.
However, it is vital to approach the hospital and its plans with clarity. Prospective clients should research the specifics of the wellness plans thoroughly, understanding that they are primarily for preventive care and typically do not cover unexpected accidents, illnesses, or emergency procedures, which may necessitate separate pet insurance or budgeting for a separate emergency facility. By focusing on the strength of their comprehensive preventive structure and taking proactive steps to understand the scope of service, local users can leverage Banfield Pet Hospital as a reliable foundation for their pet's long-term health and wellness.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We walked in this place yesterday afternoon with our puppy she was perfectly fine and was able to move. Wanted a checkup and Once they gave her back to us, we got home she was super weak. She didn’t wanted to eat or try to move or walk at all. I noticed that she was so skinny. Couldn’t open her jaw. Couldn’t even play with our other dog. In the picture you clearly see she was fine that day before we took her in. I also noticed 4 dots on her neck like if they took a lot of blood out of her. I’m so mad of what they’ve done to her. And now she’s in a better place. Don’t recommend taking your little ones there at all. 0 stars for us.
September 10 · Adilene CraftsNever get their insurance plan. I brought in my 12 year old kitty and a friends chihuahua and started the plan for both. I told them the chihuahua was not my dog, too. Well, they just had check ups done. Basic blood work. The Chihuahua was 13 and she was getting distressed at night breathing so I made an appointment at a Banfield in Goodyear. My friend took her. When he arrived they told him sorry the appointment can't happen because no Vet came in today. So they sent him to a different place. Well, it wasn't a Banfield where he had insurance, it was a place that did blood work again and charged $787 for it, $150 just to have a Vet look at her. My friend called in a panic with the bill, so I had to cover it. I call Banfield and told them I was furious. I made an appointment, no doctor showed and they sent my confused friend to a high dollar vet. Not another Banfield that the appointment and blood work, already done 1 week before. Well, the Chihuahua died one month later. My kitty also passed around the same time. So I canceled my insurance. Now they say I owe them $1400. AND sent it to collections times 2. So they sent a collection for each animal separately that were on the same account. My credit took a dive 49 points. I am so pissed.
May 26 · pamela cassiseI rescued a kitten from the street and it was experiencing some digestive issues. I took it to this Banfield to have him examined and tested for parasites. After a few days, I had to call them for the results. The girl said the results came back negative. I had to ask for a written report for my file which she then emailed to me. There was no further concern by the staff as to that the next test would be to find out what the digestive issues could be from. I paid $168.00 and the poor kitten is still having these issues (which was the reason I took him there) with no concern from Banfield staff. I will take him to a different vet. Inferior service from a veterinary clinic, for sure.
September 28 · Angela AtkinsDO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO ANY BANFIELD LOCATION.They cancelled/rescheduled almost every appointment I’ve made then rescheduled us with different doctors who do not listen or even read the previous visit notes. Basically urgent care for your pet. Don’t expect a resolution. Their OWP plan is an absolute scam and doesn’t cover anything other than routine visits; they don’t make it clear that it’s a year contract. My poor dog has been battling extreme allergies for over a year with no resolution from Banfield. Banfield has been prescribing medications that are not fit for the size/weight of my dog and therefore, are not effective. My dog is worse off than he was when I started this journey with Banfield.I highly recommend finding a local vet. Western Animal Hospital is amazing and has an extremely knowledgeable vet. I learned more standing in the lobby than anything Banfield has ever provided me. Costs less out of pocket than Banfield AND they provide the medications needed at the office prior to leaving.
July 28 · Morgan Talleyto clarify, this review is for the banfield stand alone location on 5149 W Olive Ave Suite 100, Glendale, AZ 85302. my dog was diagnosed with a grade 6 heart murmur in 2024 and started to show signs of decline in october. the providers have provided us with thorough support during this phase in his condition to find the right medication combination and manage his symptoms without a needing higher level of care. banfield staff educated us on plan coverage based his current needs and helped facilitate cost savings on prescriptions with chewy. overall, the experience has been a tremendous help for our dog's situation. i hope this review provides some insight for local pet owners.
