The Banfield Pet Hospital in Surprise, AZ, is an excellent choice for local pet owners seeking a balance of comprehensive medical services and financial predictability. The primary reason it is worth choosing is the ability to enroll in an Optimum Wellness Plan. For many Arizona families, the OWP transforms pet care from a series of unpredictable, high-cost visits into a manageable monthly expense, which can be a literal lifesaver, especially when dealing with chronic conditions like diabetes, as highlighted in customer reviews. The unlimited office visits included in the plans remove the financial barrier to seeking care early, preventing small issues from escalating into major, expensive emergencies.
Furthermore, the quality of care is strongly supported by local praise. Customers specifically mention receiving personalized attention, compassionate handling of sick pets, and the proactive communication from staff members—from the receptionist to the veterinarian. The availability of advanced diagnostic tools like digital radiography and ultrasonography means the hospital can address a wider range of medical issues on-site than a basic clinic, providing peace of mind to pet parents.
While the OWP is not pet insurance and does not cover accidents or illnesses (separate pet insurance is still recommended), it excels at handling all the necessary preventative care. For the Surprise, AZ resident who values a full-service animal hospital experience, budget control, and a team known for compassion and proactive follow-up, Banfield Pet Hospital at 13764 W Bell Rd is a highly valuable resource in the local community.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My poor baby was so sick and I was really worried about her. They took really good care of her and helped me get on a wellness plan that was more budget friendly and now she’s getting better. They even took the time to show us how to properly give insulin shots and ask if we had any questions and even called to check in on her the next day. Cannot think Banfield Hospital of Surprise enough for their customer service and care of my baby. Everyone was amazing from the receptionist to the vet tech to the veterinarian, Dr. Foster. Thanks Again!
September 26 · April RowtonDr. Thoman was very caring and did something really nice 💅🏼 helping me with my dog Mojo. We've both had a tough month and really appreciate the help we have received. Thank you.
June 26 · Gazelam AleLove this place! They are so good with my cats and myself. They take the time to explain what they are doing and why and will answer all my questions. You never feel rushed at all. Dr B is the best.
September 11 · Donna BrownThe vets and other staff here are wonderful. I have been taking my dog here for almost 3 years and recently she has become reactive/showing aggression towards people after I dropped her off at the adjoining petsmart groomers, which she will no longer go to. For an unknown reason she is now very fearful of the staff here but the vets and staff at the hospital are wonderful. They did not get upset or turn me away when my fur baby growled at them, they allowed her to have her space, knowing it was just fear. Once we left they updated me that she did great once she got over her initial jitters. They always call to check in after an appointment and I appreciate them!
June 07 · kayla thomasHave been taking our Goldens to Banfield for nearly 20 years. Our vets have been amazing, keeping them healthy and dealing with the end of their lives. We love our current Vet Dr. Forrest!
