Bluegrass Animal Hospital Introduce
For pet owners living in Harrodsburg and across Mercer County, the Bluegrass Animal Hospital represents a key resource for the health and wellness of their beloved companions. Operating as a dedicated Veterinarian practice, this facility focuses on providing essential medical services in a welcoming and professional setting. The hospital is committed to the local community and understands the deep bond Kentucky families share with their pets, striving to offer care that supports both the animal's physical health and the owner's peace of mind.
The practice has generated significant feedback from the community, highlighting a dedicated core of highly trusted staff, including the mentioned Dr. Ellis. One long-time client’s review speaks volumes about the level of commitment, stating, "I moved over an hour away and I still drive to see Dr. Ellis. He has the absolute best staff. I trust them wholeheartedly with my babies." This level of loyalty suggests a strong, positive, and enduring relationship between the veterinary team and many local pet owners, built on years of reliable service and genuine compassion for the animals.
However, as with any local service, there are contrasting experiences. Another review raised a serious concern regarding a young cat’s diagnosis, noting a perceived lack of thoroughness that ultimately led to a severe diagnosis (Feline Leukemia) at a different clinic. This serves as an important reminder for all Kentucky pet owners to always maintain open communication with their veterinary care provider, ask questions about diagnostic procedures, and advocate for their pet's health to ensure every possible measure is taken for a correct and timely diagnosis.
Despite isolated negative feedback, the consistent endorsement of the professional staff and the high degree of trust placed in Dr. Ellis and the wider team by numerous long-distance patrons indicates a fundamentally positive and highly valued service within the Central Kentucky region. Bluegrass Animal Hospital remains a prominent fixture in Harrodsburg for those seeking veterinary assistance.

July 15 · Carleen BrownMy brothers girlfriend took their 4 month old kitten in to be seen because he became unbalanced and had a decreased appetite. They looked at him for a bout 5 seconds after taking his temperature then gave him a steroid shot and told her that "kittens get this way some times". She took him to a different vet and he actually has feline leukemia. Please don't take your animals here they dont know what they're talking about.
August 15 · Lakayla ValenciaI've taken my dog here only a handful of times so far, but the staff have been very friendly and good with our dog. The only complaint I have is when I called to inquire about getting our dog neutered, I was told he would only be required to get a rabies vax. However, when my husband took him up there to drop him off (btw: I didn't tell him he would only need 1 shot bc I didn't know something different would be told to him when he dropped him off) the lady told him he needed other shots (which aren't mandatory for the surgery, only the rabies vax was mandatory) I wish I had known this would've came up bc I would've told my husband not go forward with the extra vaccines. Other than that, though, I have no complaints. I'm not giving a bad review for that or anything, I just wish the communication had been better on that front. They did a great job on the surgery. It looked great, healed up very nicely. Thank you!
April 16 · Whitney BWe Love Dr.Ellis and his staff best Vet In Harroddsburg,ky. Would never go anywhere else
September 29 · KirbyThe assistant who answers the phone here is very rude and unhelpful and frankly unprofessional! For one I called and asked about flea medicine a d let her know that I would be leaving work to come purchase and she regretted to tell me on the phone that they were out only to tell me once I got there . Another incident again I called trying to get some information looking to make an appointment and because she thought I was a previous caller she got smart and rude with me and I just hung only to call back because I was upset and I wanted to let her know that, that was not acceptable she apologized and proceeded to try and tell me the information I was asking about previously quickly I interrupted and said no thank you and hung up… with all this being said I get how answering phone calls can get annoying but if you there’s some way you can do better if not find someone els for the job . The doctor should want better this reflects bad on his practice! I know I’m not the only one!
