What is Worth Choosing
For Kentucky residents, choosing MedVet Lexington is choosing access to the highest tier of specialized and emergency veterinary medicine available in the area. It is worth noting that while some customers report exceptional experiences with compassionate staff, others cite concerns regarding slow service, long wait times, and high costs—issues common at busy, high-level emergency and referral centers. Despite these operational challenges, the sheer breadth of life-saving services—from brain tumor removal to heartworm extraction and 24/7 critical care—confirms its essential role in the Kentucky pet healthcare landscape. It is not the facility for a routine nail trim or an annual vaccine, but rather the undisputed resource for when your pet’s health crisis demands the most advanced diagnostics and medical expertise available. When every second counts, or when a complex, chronic condition requires the attention of a board-certified specialist, MedVet Lexington offers the expertise and technology necessary to fight for your pet’s health. It is, unequivocally, the last resort for emergency care and the first choice for specialty care in the region.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Came in at 9:30 Pm only to leave at 4 am.Was notified around midnight that the animal was fine and perhaps just needed fluids for light dehydration and a probiotic to go home with. It took 4 hours to give fluids to an animal. With 6+ staff members seen as well as constant giggles from their break room heard on the other side of the wall it seemed to me like they were just jerking us around and stalling time.It took them 2 hours for them to give us a quote on the price for the fluids which we had to wait for, all meanwhile my animal is with strangers in an unknown envoirment, afraid. On their wall is labeled "Teamwork, Leadership and compassion" None of which are speed or efficiency. While I have no doubt they may save lives now and then, the amount of disregard for the concerns of the pet are appalling. They think just like us. They worry just like us. They fear just like us.This facility is ignorant to the cares and concerns of your animal. If you have to go here im sorry, I would use only as a last resort.Care for your pets. They are people too.
October 08 · Jay AshborneWe brought our cat, who passed from a heart attack, here to be cremated. The girl at the front desk was so compassionate. When we came back to pick him up , the woman was just as compassionate at the front desk. I do wish I took their names but I was upset at the time.I highly recommend as they did a wonderful job.
September 09 · Denise BermudezDO NOT RECOMMEND.This veterinary clinic was grossly negligent and clearly more focused on profit than the well-being of the animals in their care. My sister brought her dog in with obvious signs of a serious medical emergency—he was vomiting blood and had blood in his stool—and instead of being upfront about how critical his condition was, the vet minimized the severity and allowed her to take him home without proper treatment or warning.Had the vet made it clear how urgent the situation truly was, my sister would have never taken her dog home—he could have been saved. Instead, she was left heartbroken and blindsided when he passed away shortly after. This clinic failed not only in medical care but in basic communication and compassion. If you love your pet, avoid this place at all costs.I’d like to respond to the owner of the comment he made to my review.Let’s be honest — your response is a performative PR script that does nothing to take responsibility for what happened. My sister’s dog was bleeding internally, and your vet acted like it wasn’t serious. Instead of stepping up with urgency, compassion, or basic medical ethics, you let her take him home — and he died.Your excuse that you “needed approval” before providing care is horrifying. So if someone can’t immediately pay, your protocol is to let the animal suffer? That’s not medicine. That’s exploitation. You don’t get to hide behind procedure when lives are at stake. And spare us the “we strive for clear communication” line — your reviews say otherwise. This isn’t an isolated case. This is routine negligence dressed up in canned sympathy. Animals are dying under your watch, and it keeps happening. This clinic shouldn’t be in business, period. If you love your pet, take them literally anywhere else. Justice for Buck.
July 11 · Rebecca KollrosWe unfortunately had to visit MedVet and put our dog down during our visit but we truly appreciate the compassionate and empathetic care we received during our time there. Their emergency care is top notch and all about pet wellbeing. Dr. Cotton and her team were so great about explaining what they were doing, what was happening, and why. Prices were communicated throughout and approved each step with us. They gave us as much time as we needed with our sweet boy and made sure he was comfortable while doing so. Every member of the team was on our side and made sure we made the most informed decision and what was best for us. During the euthanasia process the team was incredibly kind and supportive. We hate that our appointment ended that way but we really appreciate the care we received. We received Louie’s ashes back quickly and again with compassion.
August 30 · Isabella BakerMedVet was a huge help with our sweet cat, Fred. We had a traumatic accident involving fishing hooks. MedVet was quick to respond when we entered the facility, put us at ease, quickly remove the hook, communicated the treatment plan, kept us updated, and got us home in a timely manor. They also sent his records to our primary vet. Fred is doing much better, acting like himself, and healing. We strongly recommend MedVet to anyone with a pet emergency.
