Your pet’s behavior is just as important as their physical well-being. Behavioral problems are one of the main reasons that pets are relinquished to animal shelters. Most issues are more easily managed when they are addressed earlier in the onset of symptoms.
- Veterinary Care
- Veterinary Dental Cleanings/Oral Surgery
It’s important for annual oral examinations to determine whether your pet needs a dental cleaning. We understand at-home dental care can be tricky, so we recommend regular dental cleanings as most periodontal disease lies underneath the gumline.
- Veterinary Hospitalization
Pet hospitalization can be a stressful time for pet parents, and we want you to know that our team will be here every step of the way when an unexpected health event occurs. When permitted, pets will have warm, dry blankets kept in their cages so that it feels more like home.
- Veterinary Ultrasounds
Ultrasonography, or an ultrasound, is a diagnostic imaging technique similar to radiography (X-rays) and is usually used in conjunction with radiography and other diagnostic measures. It allows visualization of the deep structures of the body.

May 27 · Erica OttoI can’t express enough how much Kentucky Paws Animal Hospital means to me. A month ago, I came home to find my cat, Colin, unable to use his back legs. After rushing him to an emergency clinic, we learned he was suffering from a saddle thrombus, and after much heartbreak, I had to make the difficult decision to put him to sleep. A few days later, to my surprise, I received a handwritten card from the staff at Kentucky Paws, offering their condolences. Each team member took the time to write a personal message, comforting me during those tough first days of grief. I can’t say enough about how touched I was by their kindness and how much it meant during such a painful time.I switched to Kentucky Paws after growing frustrated with trying to schedule appointments at my previous vet, Noah’s Ark Veterinary Center, and I’m so glad I did. The ease of making appointments, the level of care, and most importantly, the compassion and joy they show when helping both you and your pet—it’s clear that this team genuinely cares. I wouldn’t trust my animals to any other clinic now, and I highly recommend Kentucky Paws to anyone looking for a caring and professional veterinary team.
February 21 · derek kentrupBest Vet I've ever been to in owning dogs for the past 25 years. Dr and staff were extremely friendly and sweet to my boy and me. Highly recommend!
August 10 · MICHAEL BROOKSThank you for treating both my cat and myself with kindness and compassion! Mr. Kitty is feeling much better now after getting treated here. We went here for a second opinion after a previous vet’s treatment plan wasn’t helping our Kitty and the previous vet made us feel horrible for not spending more money with them. We had already spent over $700 at the other place, so when we came to this place and were astonished by the treatment cost difference. Although we did save money here, there were no shortcuts to our cat’s care. The vet was amazing and so was all of the staff. We just did blood work (again a fraction of the cost of the previous vet) and now Mr. Kitty’s levels are back to normal and he is acting normal again too. I will always recommend this place!
August 14 · Paige CrawfordI took my senior cat here for the first time not long after her 16th birthday. It turned out that she had cancer that I was not aware of that progressed fast. Unfortunately, this cancer took her life. But even in the short amount of time that my girl was a patient of Dr. Dettmer’s, the whole staff took the very best care of her and you can tell Dr. Dettmer truly has a passion for what she does. They cared for my sweet girl every step of the way and I was able to hold her in my arms while she was put to rest. I took home her remains in a beautifully engraved box, and I received a card in the mail that the whole staff signed, along with her paw and nose prints. Thank you to Dr. Dettmer and everyone at the office 💚 After my experience with Kentucky Animal Paws I will take every one of my pets here from now on.
