★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I see so many people giving them bad reviews due to the price. We have had to utilize emergency vet hospitals three times now unfortunately and they are about the same as the others. I will say they took real good care of Maylee, acted quick, communication was on point, and very friendly staff. From the moment I called, to driving an hour and a half, to them getting her back for care was very efficient. They kept her for two nights, did a reconstruction surgery and then we were able to come get her. Like I said before, the price was average as the others we utilized. They were clear and upfront with everything they did and the charges. She even came home with a cast with ghosts and candy corn on it. I would recommend them to any other pet parent.
October 01 · Chrystal HardinWhen our hometown emergency vet turned down our sweet Milo because they were full and had no openings, we drove the two hours to Louisville to save his life…and save his life they did!Milo was near death when we arrived there and within less than 20 minutes they had diagnosed him (a complete urinary blockage), and began the treatment he needed. The doctors and staff were very courteous and helpful at all times. We received phone calls twice a day durning his three day stay, as well as being treated wonderfully if we would call to check on him additional time. They did a great job educating us as to what the near future might look like, and in fact they were exactly right. He ended up having surgery (here locally) to hopefully permanently correct the problem. We have no doubt that, without Metropolitan, we would no longer have Milo with us and our lives would be a whole lot more empty. Five stars to this amazing emergency clinic!
June 26 · No Drama LlamaWanted to pop in & leave a review. We didn’t know if our dog would survive the fall she had, or ever be able to walk again if she pulled through. She’s walking and thriving as best as she can and that wouldn’t be possible without the neurologist on staff, and the staff in general. Thank you for saving my soulmate. A special thank you to the technicians who always handled her with care. The tender communication and genuine concern for a horrible situation did not go unappreciated. We can’t thank you all enough.
September 03 · Shelby DuplerMoney hungry, questionable billing practices and insensitive employees.I was told the estimate for my dog’s care would be $900–$1200, and that they would call me before going over that. They had me sign a tablet and stated it was just consent for them to treat my dog. The person that did the intake with my dog told me they don’t foresee it even being close to the deposit amount since it was stitching him back up. They ended up charging me $1225.40 with no call, no approval, just charged.I waited in my car for over 2.5 hours before being told to drop my dog off, even though I was told only one person was in front of me. Now, I understand, there may be other emergencies that come in. I can promise you, after sitting in the parking lot for 2.5 hours waiting that there were no emergencies that came in.When I brought my dog in after waiting, I was told it would take another 1–2 hours and my dog should be ready to be picked up. I ended up receiving an update at 130 pm (he was dropped off at 1230 pm. Also, no charges were mentioned) and was going over everything I told the person at intake. This conversation was interrupted and was told I would be called back right away. I received a call five hours later and was told discharge would take another minute (a minute to this clinic means another hour), but thanked me so much for my patience. When I arrive, the receptionist told me it was $324 and asked for my payment. I told him that I already paid the deposit, which is when he told me that it was additional. Again, no one called me. No one told me anything. I told him this very calmly in which he printed off a page and said “well you agreed to it” and showed me where I signed. I told him that I was given an iPad to sign but was not shown what I was signing and told it was for consent to give treatment, not for that amount of money. (Yes, I learned a very valuable lesson about reading every small detail and not trusting word of mouth.)I waited over 40 minutes to talk to the vet about the bill because I didn’t understand why it was so high & his initial surgery was only $450 with meds included. I was told the vet would be there. Never came out. At that point, my dog had been through enough and I had found a way to pay. When I paid, the receptionist was rude & kept stating that fact that they were busy — that’s why someone didn’t call me. I 100% understood until that point. As a business, you have an obligation to do what you say you are going to do, especially when I told them this is an unforeseen situation and I needed to know beforehand. She gave me the receipt, I was charged not once but twice for an ecollar. 730 pm comes around, bill had been paid for more than 15 minutes & was told they were getting his stuff ready, & he hadn’t been discharged, even though they told me he was ready over an hour & a half ago.Regarding the ecollars that were priced almost to $50, I made them take both off immediately since I have them at home. However, this says two very important things: this place is money hungry and will try to get away with overcharging. Ecollars are $15-20 regularly. This place clearly has a pattern of vague pricing, poor communication, and questionable billing practices from not only my experience but many others as well. I will not be returning, and I suggest anyone coming here get everything in writing, ask for updates frequently, and double-check every line of your invoice.Scratchpay and care credit are not always viable options for people. If you all care so much about pets like you claim you do, hire more compassionate people, offer flexible payment plans in house, take time to understand situations.UPDATE: photos of my dogs stitches are attached. This is what cost me $1200? Even the person at intake said staples should be used given the area.I asked the vet what I could do to ensure this doesn’t happen. The answer was “keep the cone on” which has been on at all times. He doesn’t play, run or jump. So now what? I have to pay you all or some else another $1200 to fix another vets mistake?
July 08 · Alyssa McCarthyMy sweet, almost 4yr old, Shih Tzu, Dex has always been a healthy dog! He’s spunky, energetic, and full of personality. You can imagine my surprise when I woke up one morning to find him lethargic, running a fever, shivering and diarrhea. We took him to a local emergency vet who released him the next day. Our main vet saw him right away and immediately referred us to Metro. His white blood cell count was extremely low. The staff at Metro were amazing. From the first phone call all the way to saying Goodbye! They worked diligently to help my boy. Dr. Owens was fantastic. She took the time to answer my 900 questions and was reassuring. His main tech, Madge…let me tell you! LOVE this sweet lady! Compassionate, caring, and kind. She not only made us aware of the extra love she gave Dex but she was so genuine and nurturing with him. I will forever be grateful for all of them making our “nightmare” easier to navigate and handle.
