The Bird Shoppe Introduce
For bird lovers across the Ohio region, The Bird Shoppe in Fairfield is more than just a pet store—it is a specialized haven for feathered companions. This local, small business is dedicated entirely to the world of birds, offering everything from handfed domestic parrots to the essential supplies needed for their well-being. Since its establishment, The Bird Shoppe has focused on providing a curated selection of healthy birds and offering expert knowledge, positioning itself as the go-to resource for both novice and experienced avian enthusiasts in the area.
The unique value of a specialty store like The Bird Shoppe lies in its focused expertise. Customers often come here specifically for the quality of the birds, such as cockatiels, conures, and even large parrots, and for the comprehensive advice they receive. One customer review highlights this commitment, noting that the staff was "extremely helpful" and that the time taken to "educate the 13 year old" was "greatly appreciated," leading them to declare it "hands down the best bird shop we have been to." This dedication to teaching responsible pet ownership is a hallmark of their service.
However, potential visitors should be aware that, as with any high-traffic, specialized retail environment, individual experiences with staff can vary. While many customers praise the kindness and depth of knowledge from employees, one review suggests an instance of staff being less welcoming and handling questions about a bird's lifespan in a less sensitive manner towards an elderly customer. Transparency in business means recognizing all feedback, and while the store’s mission is clearly about quality and expertise, customers should approach their visit ready to engage with the highly specialized staff.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Went there to let teenager look at parakeets. He is interested in getting one. Paula and another lady were extremely helpful!!! Answered questions we had and showed us birds. Can't say how helpful it was to have our questions answered! And I want to also add I absolutely love the blue macaw. I know not for sale but he really made my day playing peekaboo! Hands down the best bird shop we have been to. It was greatly appreciated the time taken to educate the 13 year old. And will be the only place we get a bird when he gets it. Thank you so much!
August 19 · Paula DavisWhen entering The Bird Shoppe, the staff seemed generally annoyed we were there and after about 20 minutes of walking around I finally had to find a staff member to ask for assistance with some questions we had. My grandmother has been raising birds most of her life so is very knowledgeable and just needed some general help picking out a new pet. The staff member proceeded to speak extremely rudely to my grandmother and belittle her multiple times. When asking about a specific bird she was told "those are not common, we don't sell those", with no help as to a new option. The staff member kept saying "you should have a parakeet", when my grandmother would ask about a different bird even though she had mentioned she had parakeets in the past and wasn't looking for that. What was extremely upsetting is that when asking about a bird the staff member gave my grandmother a very nasty look and said "The lifespan of that bird is 25 years", and then refused to give her any more information. I do understand that my grandmother is clearly an older woman and the concern of the bird outliving her is a real possibility but to just nastily tell an elderly woman a bird will outlive her is absolutely unacceptable... especially when we already have a home for the bird with a family member if this does happen. I tried explaining to the woman that we have a plan for the bird but every time my grandmother would ask about a different bird she would receive the exact same nasty look and "the lifespan of that bird is 20 years", then she would refuse to give any more information. It was shameful to watch a very kind elderly woman be treated this way. As a family who has shopped here for many years we never plan on returning and hope in the future your employees can learn that a bit of kindness can go a long way.
May 12 · Natalie BurlinghamI took my yellow Nate parrot in to get trimmed up and they're very nice and professional and not near as expensive as going to a veterinarian it cost me $35 to do usually what a veterinarian will charge $90 to do. They're very caring people for birds and they have a beautiful blue hyacin but it's not for sale!
December 07 · Robert WhiteI don’t think I could say enough good things about this place. I had been wanting a cockatiel for a long time (I was raised around birds, worked in a pet store in HS, and owned parakeets) We finally got a cockatiel from our local PetSmart (Bad idea) Clearly this bird was sold to us already sick because he passed away in a week and nobody in the store was surprised… I looked around for a more reputable and reliable place to get a bird and found The Bird Shoppe. When I called and told Anne about my experience she was so empathetic and kind, she quickly took down my name and number and told me she would get back to me if they had a bird and she really did call me back! I have had this bird for 2 1/2 days and the experience has been night and day…. My new bird is already very socialized and comfortable being handled making it so much easier to get her comfortable with her new surroundings less stressfully. She literally stayed on my shoulder the majority of our 2 hour drive home and just squeaked and cuddled on my neck. I have been able to text with any questions I have and get responses quickly and it has helped me not only make my bird feel more comfortable in her new home, but also myself... After my last experience, everything makes me a bit nervous. I just love her so much already and she has brought us so much joy in a matter of days. You can just tell they really care for their birds and their wellbeing!
