For Arizona pet owners, choosing Banfield Pet Hospital in Mesa means selecting a practice deeply rooted in the philosophy of preventive care. This proactive approach, encapsulated by their Optimum Wellness Plans®, is arguably the most compelling reason to choose this hospital. These plans are designed to remove financial barriers to essential, routine care, ensuring pets don't miss vital annual exams or necessary diagnostics. This commitment to continuous, predictable wellness care can lead to the early detection of issues, often resulting in less invasive and less costly treatments down the line. Furthermore, the accessibility features, including the wheelchair accessible parking and the LGBTQ+ friendly designation, point to a professional and modern facility that strives to accommodate all members of the community and their pets. The breadth of services offered, from routine vaccinations and behavior advice to general surgery and advanced imaging, provides a convenient, single-source location for most of your pet's health needs in the Phoenix East Valley.
**A Note on Public Feedback:** While the hospital aims for high standards, prospective clients should be aware that public feedback can be mixed. Some clients express satisfaction with the compassion and knowledge of certain staff members and the benefits of the wellness plans, including the 24/7 chat support. However, some comments reflect concerns regarding the rotation of veterinarians, perceived unfriendliness from some technical staff, and procedural changes such as pets being taken to the back for exams (a change that some pet owners find less transparent). Additionally, a few reviews point to difficulties in scheduling timely appointments and issues with diagnosing complex conditions, as well as occasional billing complexities related to the subscription model. Potential clients are encouraged to discuss their expectations regarding in-room presence during exams, continuity of care with a single doctor, and to clearly review the terms of any wellness plans to ensure it meets their needs and expectations for their pet's care.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1if you care about your animals do not take them to this location. i came in i because i thought my cat has been having an asthma attack once a day for the past week. i showed a video the doctor came did the wellness exam said her breathing sounds “normal” her neck does NOT look extended out ( see the picture below yes it does ) i went home and she proceeded to have 5 asthma attacks in one day. ( see the picture of her struggling to breathe during the attack ) i made an appointment at else where (follow your intuition owners and advocate for your pet) i showed a video immediately diagnosed with asthma. i could not imagine if i let her continue having asthma attacks or possibly not breathe thinking she was okay due to their exam. they brush you off as i see many comments below saying.
March 18 · Emily KruhajNot a fan of Banfield in the past few yrs. Never have the same Veterinarian. The techs are not that friendly. Our last visit they brought our dog to us and had forgotten to give her shots and one other medication. We do not like that they do everything in the back now. What happened to seeing your pet in the room with you? Why do they push for drop off appointments instead of in person? Do they not like to interact with the customer anymore?
September 10 · Robin ParkerWe had a very good experience with this Banfield location. It was the first time that we have visited a Banfield, and they were able to squeeze us in at the last minute. We had recently adopted a rescue cat, and when we got her home, she became sick. Other vets that I called were at least a week out with open appointments. We went into the store late in the afternoon and spoke with the front desk person, who, despite being very busy, was able to give us an appointment the next day. The visit itself was great, and the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Our kitty is doing well now, and we will certainly be using this Banfield for our other pets. To the staff, thank you so much for everything.
November 13 · John Payne***They say to contact them by email, but after sending two emails with no response, it becomes clear that no one is interested in helping. The service is bad enough, and the lack of support makes it even worse!Extremely disappointed with the service at Banfield Pet Hospital. Despite the fact that they were trying to take a significant amount of money from me, the diagnosis for my dog was inaccurate. It felt like the veterinarians were conducting tests blindly, without any clear direction or consideration for my pet's well-being. I got the impression that they were more interested in getting as much money out of me as possible, rather than providing quality care. If they don't change their approach, I wouldn't recommend this clinic to anyone.
May 25 · Arizona USAI took my dog to Banfield Hospital. No one counseled with me. I thought that my dog might have Cushings disease. If the doctor would have met with me before getting a test for Cushings disease, maybe she could have seen if she had any other symptoms of another problem. Instead, they took her to have her tested for the disease, without talking with me or seeing if she even was a candidate to have the test done. A few hours passed, the receptionist called out my name, told me the charges and handed me my dog. No doctor spoke with me about my dog. Not even the next day! The receptionist told me that the doctor who did the test on my dog, no longer works there. I called within the next few days for the doctor in charge and she said the test was negative and that was it. So strange on how everything went. So vague and disorganized.I would have liked her to observe my dog’s symptoms, and ask me questions about my dog and tell me what she thought. Determine if I should have had the test done on my dog or if she saw any other underlying conditions that could be causing her discomfort. I am not a doctor, but I thought maybe my dog had Cushings disease, so I took her to the appointment. They just took her, had her tested for Cushings disease because I thought it might be that disease. Then afterwards gave me my dog and charged me a lot of money. I was left hanging with no doctor to see me with my dog. My dog still pees all over my house often. I wish the doctor would have consulted with me. Maybe she could have helped my dog and go a different direction in her care.
