Bowling Green Veterinary Emergency Clinic Introduce
Introduction / Overview
When a pet emergency strikes after your regular family veterinarian has closed for the day, a dedicated Emergency Veterinarian Service is a critical lifeline. For pet owners across South Central Kentucky, the Bowling Green Veterinary Emergency Clinic (BGVEC) exists to fill this essential need, providing focused, urgent care when your dog or cat requires immediate medical attention outside of normal business hours. The clinic is specifically designed to handle crises, offering specialized Emergency Pet Care, diagnostic services, and necessary surgical intervention during the stressful overnight and weekend hours when other clinics are typically closed.
BGVEC identifies as a Women-Owned business, contributing to the diversity and strength of the local Kentucky economy. Their primary mission is to offer stabilization, treatment, and critical support for pets suffering from sudden illness or injury. They often serve as a referral partner for general practice veterinarians, ensuring continuity of care by taking over once a local clinic closes for the day. In critical situations, they provide Pet Hospitalizations and necessary Pet Surgery.
While the goal of BGVEC is to provide expert and compassionate care, it is important for prospective clients to be aware that the high-stress nature of emergency medicine can lead to varied client experiences. Public reviews indicate instances where clients, especially those who traveled long distances, expressed profound dissatisfaction and concern over the thoroughness of diagnostic testing for potential toxic exposure and overall patient outcome. These serious complaints, although distressing, highlight the intense emotional and financial pressure inherent in emergency vet care and underscore the need for clear communication in critical scenarios. However, other clients have praised the staff's professionalism, friendliness, and availability during crucial times, demonstrating the clinic's vital role as the only overnight emergency vet in the immediate Bowling Green area.

Services Offered
Bowling Green Veterinary Emergency Clinic focuses exclusively on time-sensitive, acute care. They are not intended for routine wellness check-ups, vaccinations, or standard veterinary maintenance; their services are dedicated to addressing immediate health threats to small companion animals. The primary service offerings include:
- Emergency Pet Care: Comprehensive triage, stabilization, and immediate medical management for critical illnesses and injuries, such as trauma, severe vomiting/diarrhea, seizures, sudden collapse, and breathing difficulties.
- Pet Surgery: Emergency surgical procedures required to treat life-threatening conditions, including internal bleeding, foreign body obstructions, or severe wounds. All surgical care is delivered by experienced veterinary staff.
- Pet Hospitalizations: Intensive and round-the-clock monitoring, fluid therapy, and critical care for patients requiring overnight or extended stays due to the severity of their condition. This includes post-operative care and ongoing management of unstable patients.
- Pet Emergency Referrals: Close collaboration with local family veterinarians. Once a pet is stabilized, BGVEC manages the seamless transfer of the patient and their full medical records back to the primary veterinarian for follow-up and continued long-term care.
As an Emergency Veterinarian Service, they are equipped with the necessary diagnostic equipment, such as radiography and laboratory services, essential for quick decision-making in trauma and acute illness cases. They offer Onsite services to ensure that all necessary care can be performed at the facility.
Features / Highlights
The specialized focus and operational structure of BGVEC provide several distinct advantages and characteristics crucial for pet owners in a crisis:
- Dedicated Emergency Focus: The clinic's sole purpose is Emergency Pet Care, meaning their staff, equipment, and protocols are entirely optimized for rapid, high-stakes medical and surgical intervention, offering a level of readiness not typically found at general practices.
- After-Hours Availability: BGVEC is a critical component of the regional veterinary infrastructure, specifically operating during the evenings, nights, and weekends—the exact times when most family veterinary clinics are closed—making them the go-to option for after-hours crises.
- Women-Owned Business: Proudly identifying as a women-owned business, the clinic contributes to the community by promoting inclusive business leadership in the medical sector.
- Referral Collaboration: They are designed to work seamlessly with primary care veterinarians, offering specialized Pet Emergency Referrals. This ensures a team-based approach to your pet's health, focusing on stabilizing the patient and transferring them back to their regular doctor for rehabilitation.
- Payment Flexibility: To ease the financial burden of unexpected emergencies, the clinic accepts major forms of payment, including Credit cards and Debit cards.
Contact Information
For immediate assistance with a pet emergency, the most vital step is to call the clinic immediately to ensure the team is prepared for your arrival. Their core function as an Emergency Veterinarian Service means they are ready for unannounced arrivals, but a quick call allows for better preparation and triage.
- Address: 760 Campbell Ln Suite 100, Bowling Green, KY 42104, USA
- Primary Phone: (270) 715-5600
Given the nature of their service, a prompt call to the provided number is the first step toward securing critical, life-saving care for your pet when a crisis occurs outside of your regular vet's working hours.
What is worth choosing
The Bowling Green Veterinary Emergency Clinic is an indispensable resource for the pet-owning community of Kentucky, especially for those living in or near Bowling Green. Simply put, when your pet suffers a medical emergency in the middle of the night or on a Sunday, BGVEC offers a dedicated facility and staff ready to respond when no other option is available. The value of an after-hours Emergency Veterinarian Service cannot be overstated—they provide the crucial time and treatment needed to bridge the gap until your regular vet opens.
However, users must enter this environment with a clear understanding of what an emergency clinic is and is not. It is an urgent care center designed for stabilization and critical care, not comprehensive long-term management. While the clinic’s specialized focus on Pet Surgery and Pet Hospitalizations in a crisis is commendable and often life-saving, users should remain vigilant about understanding proposed diagnostic procedures and costs. The very serious nature of the complaints, which included allegations of inadequate toxicity screening for suspected poisoning cases, indicates that pet owners should be prepared to ask detailed questions about diagnostic plans, especially when potential toxins are involved. Ultimately, BGVEC is a necessary and critical asset for overnight and weekend emergency care in the region, serving a vital role that every Kentucky pet owner should be aware of for those moments when time is truly of the essence.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1What this vet clinic did is HORRIFIC. If you want to know the full story and why no one should ever go here, take a look at my story in the photos I’ve added to this review. If you want your pet to live, RUN RUN RUN far away from them. My baby was poisoned and they did absolutely nothing but take my money. Autopsy confirmed she was poisoned. Here’s a picture of her dead body in my freezer as I tried to preserve her before her autopsy. This story is going to the news soon. They’ll be shut down and sure enough pay for what they did. They deleted this entire review from their facebook in an attempt to hide it.
October 04 · Amber RussellWe brought our dog to them from several hours away. There are no emergency clinics close to us. We let them know we had concerns that she had ingested something that could have been poisoned or toxic. An X-ray was given to show to signs of blockages and were told she had an upset stomach. She was given anti nausea meds and pain meds. No screening for toxicity or poisons were done. We relied on their knowledge and thoroughness. Our dog had a seizure and died in front of our 12 year old in the back seat of my truck. She died as I was on the phone to this vet. They told me I needed to get her to an emergency clinic. Very Ironic. That’s what taking her to this emergency clinic did for us. We had a full body necropsy to determine death and will be contacting authorities over this matter. Autopsy revealed she was poisoned. Under, “exposure to toxins” the vet marked her chart, “unknown” with no testing.
October 04 · Jared RussellMy GSP had an emergency and they were amazing! They were quick and efficient. They diagnosed her right away, admitted her for the night and she is back home with a care plan that was explained and is easy for me to follow. All the staff was caring and they even followed up and checked on her after her release. I won't hesitate to take any of my dogs back.
September 24 · Valery JeffriesBrought my dog in the other night. she was very sick. She was vomiting and had diarrhea to the point of bleeding. They admitted her very quickly (with an upfront payment). They got her onto an IV quickly. Stayed with her and monitored her over night. They gave her drugs to help with the stomach issues, and antibiotics. The next morning at pick up, she was already starting to feel better. She has been home for three days now and is doing very well. We are still following the doctors orders. Even though we have not had a reason to go back to the veterinary clinic. They have called every day and checked on her well-being and make sure she was still recovering Well. I am grateful for their help.
September 06 · timothy mcintyreLet me just say wow...my dog unfortunatley was a victim of a vicious dog attack myself and my fiance included. I ran into their office covered in blood and they didnt skip a beat to take my baby and care for not only her but me and my fiance! The incredible staff disinfected our wounds until EMS arrived for us I wish I could give 100/5 stars. Thankfully my sweet girl survived her procedure and is back home with us. Thank you all again! Pic of my lazy cutie pre accident attached ❤️
