This is more than just a veterinary service; it is a dedicated commitment to honoring the life and ensuring the comfort and dignity of pets during their final stages.
Heart's Ease Veterinary Care is a highly specialized practice. They recognize that for many senior pets or those dealing with a terminal illness, travel to a traditional clinic can be stressful and uncomfortable. Their entire philosophy is built around minimizing this stress by bringing expert care—including end-of-life planning and in-home euthanasia—directly to the pet, allowing them to remain safe and surrounded by loved ones in their favorite space. This focus on comfort, personalized support, and grief assistance sets them apart as a crucial resource for families facing their pet’s final chapter.
Location and Accessibility
While Heart’s Ease Veterinary Care maintains a physical office in Louisville, their primary service model is a **Mobile Veterinary Practice**, bringing care directly to the homes of pet owners across the Kentuckiana region. This mobile approach is vital to their mission of providing low-stress, end-of-life support.
The office location, used for administrative purposes, scheduling, and potentially consultations, is:
820 E Washington St, Louisville, KY 40206, USA
The office facility itself ensures physical accessibility for those who may visit for consultations or aftercare arrangements, featuring:
- **Wheelchair accessible entrance**
- **Wheelchair accessible parking lot**
- **Wheelchair accessible restroom**
- Comfort-focused amenities, including a Restroom.
It is important for Kentucky residents to know that **appointments are recommended** for all services, given the personalized and time-intensive nature of hospice and in-home care. The mobile nature of the practice means their veterinarians are traveling to families, making pre-scheduled appointments necessary to coordinate their availability and ensure they can dedicate the proper, unhurried time to each client and pet.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I cannot thank these people enough for providing a service to both of our beloved dogs. Rose and Gus. Thanks to their very compassionate staff, we where able to take our time in saying our good byes each time, and both of them where surround by the people that loved them most in this world, in their favorite beds.I would only suggest these wonderful people. Everyone one of them was sympathetic to why we had to call them. Trust me and spend the extra money to have them come to you. You will want the comfort and privacy of your own home for you and your loved one. You both deserve it.
August 16 · Daniel RodriguezI can’t say enough to express my gratitude at the care provided by Dr Bennett and her receptionist. It was so hard to even talk about end of life and the receptionist was so kind and patient and when I decided on an appointment and Dr Bennett arrived she was so compassionate and caring and my Pippa was so comfortable in her presence. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to say goodbye It took all the stress and sterile atmosphere of a vet office away and let her be at peace in the comfort of home on a comfy blanket in a sunbeam from the open window. Also the care of following up with a sympathy card and a phone call to check in was so thoughtful. It took me a long time to get the ashes as it was a finality I couldn’t bring myself to face for several weeks and they were so kind and patient with me and never called or badgered me about getting them. Thank you all so much for what you do for us as animal parents I will never forget the kindness you showed.
October 13 · Amanda DonhoffIt has taken us a few weeks to get our bearings straight on writing this review… But we would be remiss if we didn’t take the time to do so. On February 15, our sweet and beautiful Caramel crossed over the rainbow bridge. We enlisted the help of heartsease veterinary care during her last week. When you treat pets like members of the family, like we do, it is imperative that you do the best for them, especially at end of life. At 16 years old, Caramel had been deteriorating for months and we were acutely aware that her life was wrapping up, but we needed to be informed and at peace with the decision-making that goes with this chapter. It is so easy to be in a bubble and feel immobilized in making decisions for a family pet. You can keep hoping and praying that things will turn around… and it leads to just second-guessing yourself. We reached out to Dr. Courtney Bennett at Hearts Ease Veterinary Care for a comprehensive conversation about quality of life. She reviewed medical records, poured over notes that we had provided to her, and then conducted an hour long conversation with us where we stepped through every aspect of Caramel‘s health and where we were currently with her deterioration. Our main concern was being prepared to make an end-of-life decision and being at peace with it. The bottom line… we did not want to have any regrets and we didn’t want to second-guess our decision after the fact.Dr. Bennett deals with end of life and pet owners every day. So she’s able to educate and inform while being deeply respectful of how personal all of this truly is. She helped to get us out of our heart and into our head regarding making decisions for our sweet girl. She recommended that we do a round of imaging so that we might get some answers as to why she was going downhill so quickly. We proceeded with getting imaging from Veterinary Specialiat Partnersin Louisville, who were also phenomenal in their care. Even though we did get quite a few answers, within 24 hours Caramel had a severe change in condition. Because of the previous conversation with Courtney, we knew we were seeing pain and suffering… There was no longer a decision to be made. We reached out to Courtney and she rearranged her Saturday to come to our home. We will never be able to thank her enough for acting so quickly. You know you’re dealing with a special veterinarian when they walk into your front door, take off their shoes and then sit on the floor to play with all of your animals and dish out treats from their pockets. We were immediately at peace. We were able to give Caramel a beautiful passing thanks to Dr. Bennett’s help. All of our dogs sat with her in front of the fireplace as Courtney provided at home euthanasia. This is THE worst part of having animals that you love so deeply… but we couldn’t have done it any better for our girl. The next day we received an email from Courtney checking in on us and a few days later a beautiful handwritten note.It is my hope that we will be able to give this type of passing to all of our other dogs. We are forever in debt to Dr. Bennett’s for her expertise and gentle nature while taking care of our sweet girl during that chapter. If you have a senior pet begin to think about how you will handle their final chapter. I am so glad that we made contact with Hearts Ease and that they partnered with us for this very difficult chapter. We are forever grateful.
March 07 · Melissa Marksbury RoeWe realize that in most cases these reviews are recognizing the amazing compassion of Dr Bennett in helping a beloved pet to cross over. Our story is a bit different. In our case we had scheduled a euthanasia appointment but had reservations. We had unanswered questions about whether all options had been exhausted. Dr Bennett allowed us to pivot and schedule a consultation where she professionally and compassionately reviewed medical records and used her intellectual curiosity to ask questions about the treatment our pet had received. She pointed us to specialists who may be able to render a second opinion. Through that process we have found that it was not our pet's time and there were additional options available. We are holding and loving our pet tonight rather than grieving his loss because of Dr Bennett. Dr Bennett took our doubts seriously rather than attributing them to grief or denial. We will be forever grateful for her wisdom and willingness to take a second look at our situation. Her talent is a true gift in our community.
September 05 · H. WatersDr. Bennett is one of the few people I've met who can simultaneously be genuinely empathetic and professional. Losing our dog Bizzy was one of the hardest experiences my wife and I have ever been through. Heart's ease let us say goodbye at home, with Dr. Bennett supportively guiding us through the process. She made a devastating experience a little easier to bear, and I'm so grateful for her help in giving him a peaceful passing.
