Phoenix Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center Introduce
For pet owners across the greater Phoenix area, the knowledge that highly advanced, round-the-clock veterinary care is available provides immense peace of mind. The Phoenix Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center (PVREC), located conveniently in Phoenix, AZ, stands as a cornerstone of advanced veterinary medicine in the region. This facility is a multi-specialty animal hospital, an emergency veterinarian service, and a veterinary pharmacy all in one, dedicated to delivering the gold standard of care for dogs and cats, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
PVREC serves two critical functions: providing immediate, expert care for pet emergencies and offering specialized veterinary services by referral from a primary care veterinarian. Whether a family pet is suffering from an unexpected, life-threatening injury—such as a coyote attack, as experienced by one local—or requires a complex, elective procedure like orthopedic surgery, the hospital is equipped with the specialized staff and state-of-the-art technology to handle it all. They are committed to a philosophy where patient care and patron services are the “prime” directives.
The facility is designed for comprehensive care, housing advanced diagnostic tools, cutting-edge surgical suites, and a dedicated emergency team ready to triage and stabilize critical patients at any hour. This high level of specialization means pets benefit from diagnostics and treatment that may not be available at a general practice, ensuring that animals with complex medical conditions or sudden trauma receive the absolute best chance at recovery.
Moreover, the compassionate nature of the staff, as highlighted by multiple clients, demonstrates that their gold standard of care extends beyond clinical expertise to include crucial emotional support for distressed pet owners during difficult and often traumatic circumstances, such as sudden loss or life-saving surgery. They excel at communicating complex information, including treatment plans and cost estimates, to help owners make the best possible decisions under pressure.
When minutes matter or when a pet needs specialized expertise, Phoenix Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center is a vital resource for the Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Paradise Valley communities.
The strategic location of Phoenix Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center ensures it is readily accessible for emergencies across the North Phoenix region. Being able to quickly reach a 24-hour facility is paramount in a pet emergency, and the placement of this hospital near major thoroughfares facilitates prompt travel.
The facility is located at:
- 4015 E Cactus Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85032, USA
The location’s design prioritizes convenience and comfort for all visitors, especially those arriving in stressful circumstances or requiring mobility assistance. Accessibility features include:
- Wheelchair accessible entrance, allowing for easy, stress-free access for all clients, whether carrying a sick pet or using a mobility aid.
- Wheelchair accessible parking lot, providing dedicated and convenient spaces.
- Wheelchair accessible restroom, ensuring comfort and full accessibility for all patrons.
- General amenities include comfortable restroom facilities for client use.
As a 24/7 facility, it is always open. For emergencies and urgent care, pets are seen around the clock. For specialty and referral services, appointments are necessary, and clients are advised to call ahead to ensure the specialist required is available and prepared for the case. The compassionate staff understands that emergency situations can be overwhelming, but a quick call ahead, if possible, helps them triage and prepare for the pet's arrival.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My dog Wicket unexpectedly passed away while we were out of town so we called the closest emergency vet to see what was the best thing to do for our beloved dog. Our dog sitter brought Wicket to the hospital where she stayed overnight until we were able to reunite with her in the morning. The team at Phoenix Vet Referral & Emergency was so compassionate and kind throughout the entire process. We opted for cremation. I received her paw print and wooden urn 5 days later from Lasting Paws Pet Memorial and they were so wonderfully done. I had no idea what to expect and I’m so glad I can now keep her close to me. Wicket was my first dog and losing her unexpectedly was very difficult. Thank you for your kindness and making this process more bearable.
March 14 · Sandy NguyenMy puppy was recently attacked by a coyote, and it was one of the most heartbreaking and traumatic moments I’ve ever experienced. I rushed her to Phoenix Veterinary Emergency, overwhelmed and scared, not knowing what to expect. From the moment we walked in, the staff was truly amazing. They saw how distressed I was and didn’t hesitate for a second to take my baby into their care. They treated her with so much compassion and made sure she was as comfortable as possible, making sure she wasn’t in pain. I was also extremely worried about the cost of surgery, but the veterinarian took the time to walk me through everything, pricing options, and what would be best for my pup. What truly touched my heart was the nurse who went above and beyond to personally contact the surgeons and nurses at Dr. Kelly’s and coordinated everything so she could be seen the very next morning.I honestly can’t thank the entire team enough for stepping in on such short notice and providing not only excellent care but true kindness and support during such a difficult time. They treated my puppy like family and that meant the world to me.My pup is doing great and is home recovering ❤️🩹
April 17 · J SanWe brought my fur baby in and proceeded to wait more than 2-1/2 hours before we left and went to another veterinary hospital who was able to see her right away. I will not recommend this place to anyone who has a loved fur baby who is part of the family. The communication from the front desk is also terrible, I had to go up to the desk and ask exactly how much longer we had to wait after being there 3 hours!!
October 13 · Jeanine bordenHad to bring our kitty in and the staff here were extremely kind and helpful. They made me feel like she was in good hands, and they took great care of her. The facility is very clean, and they even have a little selection of coffee and snacks in the waiting room, which we greatly appreciated as we hadn't eaten yet and it was a stressful situation. Doctor Weisbeck was lovely and did a great job explaining what she thought was wrong to us and next steps. This is a great facility and if we ever need an emergency vet we'll definitely be coming back here
July 05 · ZeldaThe staff, technicians and vet here were so incredibly kind and empathetic when I brought my senior kitty in after he was hit by a car. They took him back immediately when I walked in the door to stabilize him and make him comfortable. Even though his injuries were so severe that we decided to put him down, everyone was so patient and gave us all the time we needed to make our decision and say goodbye. They also listened when I talked about my kitty Archie and how great he was and how much my daughter adored him. I know their jobs are very hard dealing with sick and injured pets and their scared and grieving owners, but the staff had no shortage of sympathy and patience for us.While I hope I never have to bring a pet to a hospital again, I would go here if I had to.
