Banfield Pet Hospital Introduce
For pet owners across the greater Phoenix area and throughout Arizona, Banfield Pet Hospital on Shea Boulevard offers a highly accessible and structured approach to Veterinary care. As a leading Animal hospital and Veterinary pharmacy, this location is dedicated to providing high-quality, comprehensive Primary Care with a strong emphasis on Preventive Petcare. The philosophy here centers on keeping your pets—dogs, cats, and even Exotic animals—healthy through proactive, regular health management rather than just reactive treatment for sickness.
What truly distinguishes Banfield for many Arizona families is the availability of their Optimum Wellness Plans (OWP). These are not traditional pet insurance, but rather a subscription-based model that allows owners to budget for routine care by covering essential services like Regular Exams, Vaccinations, and Laboratory Diagnostics through affordable monthly payments. This approach is particularly valuable in Arizona, where the consistent heat and desert environment can present unique health challenges for pets, making routine preventive measures even more critical.
Customers who utilize these plans often highlight the immense value they receive. One long-term client noted that their plan makes services not only affordable but often eliminates per-visit payments for routine care, which fosters a partnership of consistent Pet Healthcare. The staff at the Shea Boulevard location are repeatedly described as "well informed," "great," and highly compassionate, taking the time to console both the animals and their human companions during visits. This dedication to Compassionate Care helps mitigate the stress often associated with vet visits.
While the structured nature of a large veterinary network can sometimes lead to logistical challenges—such as occasional issues with Pet Prescription fulfillment or getting in for urgent, unscheduled Re Checks—the hospital is generally committed to resolving these concerns quickly, as demonstrated by a veterinarian who called back to make a medication issue right. The hospital’s services are broad, covering everything from Puppy Packages and Kitten Packages to Orthopedic Evaluation And Treatment and End Of Life Services, making it a reliable, long-term partner for your pet's life journey.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The Hospital and clinic have been great to us. Well informed during the visit. Took time to console both puppies. Everyone greeted us as we walked into the clinic. All staff was great. You just need to ask questions during the visit and you won't have a negative visit. We've been going here for over 6 years. As far as payment for services we have a plan through Banfield that we pay each month. It's not expensive compared to other insurances or plans. Most of our services we are scheduled for are included in our monthly plan, therefore we don't pay each visit. When payment for certain services are required it is at a discounted price which is affordable.
September 25 · Anna LarsenPublic safety concern, too busy to care. They failed to remind me to get the RABIES VACCINATION for my Siamese rescue. It's a 3 year shot, so I really needed a reminder and got none. They claim I didn't want to visit and froze her records. Yeah, they see the other cat, but the cat saved from the streets of D.C. and scared of humans they want none of. All I ask of them for her is shots. They are the one's that chose the 3 year shot, which is more dangerous but required fewer visits. If your pet has needs or is not perfect look elsewhere.Last year took my orange tabby for her shots and was diagnosed with an ear infection. The visit seemed to go fine usual 45 minute, but the prescription the doctor gave was a HUGE problem. 3 phone calls to 3 pharmacys and they don't stock it. A second call to the vet and they insist on this medicine and suggest Chewy online, Not in stock on Chewy, reviews saying backordered from the manufacturer since July.Next morning they called to do the check for reactions and I said how the medication had a manufacturing problem and the Vet called me back and made it right found a new medicine available on Chew and was willing to help order.
June 09 · bonnie loveI can't say enough good things about Banfield Pet Hospital and the wonderful care they provide for my dogs, Lucy and Milo. The staff truly loves my pets and it shows in everything they do. From the moment we walk in, Lucy and Milo are greeted with genuine warmth and enthusiasm. The veterinarians and support staff are incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate. They take the time to listen to my concerns, thoroughly explain treatment options, and ensure that Lucy and Milo receive the best possible care. Whether it's a routine check-up or an unexpected health issue, I always feel confident that my dogs are in good hands.Banfield Pet Hospital goes above and beyond to create a welcoming and stress-free environment for both pets and owners. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for exceptional veterinary care.
June 26 · Rachelle WestermanBanfield overall is a money grab. There are vets and techs that work for Banfield that genuinely care about animals, but they are trapped in the Banfield money machine. We have had the Banfield wellness plan since 2012 - and 2013-2024 was for two dogs. Last year we discovered the hard way that the wellness plan we had been paying into for 12 years offers no form of emergency care and any end of life care/services are only during business hours. God forbid your senior dog have a medical emergency at night or on the weekends - you are coming out of pocket for that 100% at a place you've never been. It was awful and we lost our girl.So for our other senior dog, we decide to change vets to somewhere that can accommodate emergency and end of life care - specifically a vet that can come to our home when the time comes. We haven't renewed our wellness plan package in years - there are no signed documents - in fact the only change we made was in 2024 when we lost our girl. But somehow we are still "under contract" and we have to pay $500 to end our wellness plan.So the rough math is 11 years of two dogs on wellness plans at roughly $75/month = $9,990 and two years of just one dog at roughly $45/month = $1,080 for a total of $11,070 that we have paid Banfield. No serious incidents, no major surgeries (our girl had a paw surgery in like 2013 that's it) just a visit every year for vaccines - but because we learned the hard way how awful it can be when it's their time and we want to do better this time, Banfield still has to squeeze us for that last $500.Find a vet that fits your needs and tuck that $45 or $75/month in the safe and you'll be much better off. Banfield only cares about the money.
May 10 · darlene cookLoved this practice for the better part of five years but lately things have been on a decline. Not sure what happened but the front office staff used to be great. My interaction with the scheduler today sealed the deal for me. She called to confirm an appointment that they had changed before contacting me. When I asked why (she referenced a policy that had never come up over the years) she immediately got defensive an referred back to the policy. I asked if it was a Banfield policy or that vet's policy and when she told me it was the vet's I asked her to cancel my appointment. Five minutes on the phone with the team at 7th ave and Shea and they not only scheduled our pet but they shifted some things around so they could get him in before my family leaves town for an extended vacation. Shame on Shea and bravo to the 7th an Bell team.
