★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My 12 year old miniature schnauzer, Tucker, had to have his spleen removed this year— due to us discovering he had a splenic mass. To say I was nervous, terrified, and completely sick to my stomach worried would be an understatement. My dog is my baby and my everything! I wanted the absolute best and safest possible surgery for him, especially given his age. However, I didn’t think I’d even be able to afford this kind of surgery, given how costly they are. I called clinic after clinic… SVSS offered so much time, care, consideration, empathy, and support— all at such a reasonable price, which included an overnight stay, which gave me so much peace of mind knowing my baby would have someone to monitor him overnight. And knowing that, if God forbid, something were to have happened, there was a 24/7 ER vet next door, was all the comfort I needed. The doctors kept in constant communication with me, sent me photos and updates, and answered literally all my questions, while thoroughly explaining everything to me in simple terms when medical terms became confusing. It’s been almost 6 months since my baby’s surgery and he is THRIVING! His recovery was absolutely more than I could have ever expected. He was back to his normal self on day 2!! And I firmly believe this is all thanks to the incredible team at SVSS. Me and my Tucker cannot thank you enough for everything ❤️
October 07 · Kalyn DancilEveryone is so helpful and kind here. My 3yr old maltipoo had to have TPLO surgery. They let me know after her surgery was complete and also the overnight team sent me a picture and update of how she was doing. They were very thorough with our at home care instructions and even checked on us a few days later to see how the swelling and bruising was doing. They gave me refills to help keep her calm while she was in her 8week recovery. Dr. Dixon and his team are the best!!
September 22 · felicia khanUPDATE:Just received a text message checking how Sir Winston is doing after have two surgeries, both on his hips that broke(genetic problem). His first hip broke in the middle of May and here it is mid July and Lori was checking up on how Sir Winston's recovery was going. We have never had a veterinary service ever provide services like we have received from Southwest Veterinary Surgical Service, PC. These people are super and outstanding in all their caring of pets. I spoke with Heather who is the manager of this this facility and express my appreciation of her staff about there concerns and caring of our Sir Winston, all we can say THANK YOU !!!Either May 17th or May 18th, our big tabby Sir Winston broke his right hip after breaking his left hip a couple months ago. I immediately called South West Veterinary Surgical Services in Peoria asking for the on call doctor to call me back. It wasn’t 15 minutes and the doctor called and I explained everything to her on the phone and she immediately setup an appointment for Sir Winston on May 19th for us see Dr. Newman who had don’t Sir Winston’s prior surgery. After consultation with Dr. Newman, we were advised that Sir Winston would go into surgery the same day. Later that day we received a phone call informing us that Sir Winston had an uneventful surgery and was in recovery wide awake. We also got regular updates as to his condition later that evening and the next day. Sir Winston came home the morning of May 21st and has been doing exceptional with his recovery. We definitely want to thank Dr. Newman and the rest of the staff who oversaw Sir Winston in surgery and recovery for their professionalism and upfront honesty. Our first bill from a couple months ago was $4087.00 and the second one was approximately $3300.00, so Sir Winston has a value of almost $8000.00 but will be able to live a normal life and he is only 2 years old. If any of you pet owners ever need surgery for your pet, go to South West Veterinary Surgical Services in Peoria. They are the absolutely the BEST. If I could leave a 10 star rating I would. My wife and I thank the staff for their kindness, especially Bri, she sent us updates regularly with pics. Highly recommend this surgical center for your pets.
July 07 · Michael D McLaughlinMy husband and I were incredibly impressed with Southwest Veterinary Surgical Services from the very beginning. Our experience with them was nothing short of amazing. Every single person we interacted with—from the front desk staff and surgical technicians to the surgical team and after-hours support was kind, compassionate, and professional. As someone who deals with a lot of anxiety, especially when it comes to my dog Sweets’ health, I felt completely supported throughout the entire process. The team was so patient with me, answering every question and calming my nerves with genuine care and understanding. I never once felt rushed or dismissed.Dr. Dixon performed TPLO surgery on Sweets, and he was absolutely wonderful—friendly, professional, and clearly very caring. We felt completely confident that Sweets was in excellent hands. He and the rest of the team were honest, transparent, and genuinely focused on what was best for our dog—not just in the moment, but for her long-term well-being.We’re now a couple of days post-surgery and focusing on Sweets’ recovery, and we already feel that SVSS has prepared us well for this recovery journey. The detailed instructions, thoughtful follow-ups, and clear communication have made this process so much less stressful. We’re incredibly grateful for the exceptional care we received and would wholeheartedly recommend Southwest Veterinary Surgical Services to anyone in need of expert, compassionate surgical care for their pet. They exceeded every expectation we had.
September 08 · Janna CordaI took my dog to my vet and she told me my dog probably had a ruptured cruciate ligament and needed to be seen by a surgeon. I asked where she would take her dog and without hesitation she said Southwest Surgical. I was able to get in quickly and after our consult I scheduled surgery. My experience from start to finish was excellent. Dr Newman and his staff were professional, kept me informed and even provided a photo of my dog after surgery. The recovery is long but if I had questions or concerns a tech was a call or text away. I never had to wait long for a response. I would highly recommend Southwest Surgical and Dr Newman. Thank you for a great experience under a not so great circumstance.
