Wedgewood Introduce
For pet owners and veterinarians throughout Arizona, accessing specialized and custom-prepared medications for animal companions is a critical component of high-quality care. Wedgewood Pharmacy, with a key location in Scottsdale, stands as one of the nation’s largest and most trusted veterinary compounding pharmacies. This facility is not a traditional human-focused drugstore but a specialty pharmacy dedicated entirely to animal health, serving pets, horses, and various exotic animals across the United States, with a strong physical presence in the Valley of the Sun.
The unique value of a compounding pharmacy lies in its ability to customize medications to meet the specific needs of an individual patient. This is especially vital in veterinary medicine where a commercially available drug may not be the right strength, dosage form, or even palatable for a particular animal. Wedgewood Pharmacy works directly with veterinarians to formulate prescriptions into innovative, compliance-friendly forms—such as flavored oral liquids, tiny tablets, or transdermal gels—making the process of administering medicine easier for pet owners and less stressful for the animals themselves.
Introduction / Overview
Wedgewood Pharmacy’s Scottsdale operation, established through the merger with the locally known Diamondback Drugs, serves as a crucial hub in their national network for custom-compounded veterinary medications. For over four decades, the company has partnered with veterinarians to provide tailored pharmaceutical solutions when commercially manufactured drugs fall short. Their focus is solely on veterinary compounding, allowing them to maintain specialized expertise and state-of-the-art accredited facilities.
This pharmacy is a business-to-business and business-to-consumer service, primarily fulfilling prescriptions written by a licensed veterinarian. They specialize in altering the strength, formulation, or flavoring of essential medications for chronic conditions, acute illnesses, and general wellness. Serving the Arizona community means recognizing the need for reliable delivery of these custom products, especially for owners of animals with urgent or ongoing health requirements. They are a PCAB®-accredited pharmacy, reflecting their commitment to the highest quality and safety standards in compounding practice. While the company is actively expanding its operations to a new, larger, state-of-the-art facility in Chandler, AZ, the Scottsdale location remains a key component of their service delivery in the region.
Location and Accessibility
The Wedgewood Pharmacy facility is centrally located in Scottsdale, making it a recognized and established fixture in the local veterinary community. While their primary mode of operation is remote fulfillment and delivery, the physical location is:
- 7631 E Indian School Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85251, USA
The facility provides service options focused on convenience, namely Delivery of medications directly to the pet owner’s home or the veterinary clinic. For physical accessibility, the location ensures that all customers and staff can easily navigate the premises, featuring a Wheelchair accessible entrance and a Wheelchair accessible parking lot. This commitment to accessibility reflects an understanding that clients may have mobility challenges, though it is important to note that the core service is remote order fulfillment. Payment options are modern and convenient, including acceptance of Credit cards, Debit cards, and NFC mobile payments.

Features / Highlights
The unique nature of Wedgewood Pharmacy's service model brings several distinctive features and highlights that are valuable to the Arizona pet community:
- Specialized Compounding Expertise: They possess deep expertise in creating complex, customized, and often critical medications, a capability that standard pharmacies do not offer.
- Commitment to Quality: As a PCAB®-accredited and state-licensed facility, they adhere to rigorous quality standards in their preparation of sterile and non-sterile compounded medications.
- Convenience of Delivery: The primary model of providing Delivery service ensures that pet owners across Arizona, particularly those with mobility issues or busy schedules, can receive necessary medications at their home or clinic.
- Improved Pet Compliance: The innovative dosage forms, such as flavored Gourmeds® and Tiny Tabs®, are specifically designed to increase the likelihood that pets will take their medicine without a struggle, which is a major concern for pet owners.
- Serving a Broad Veterinary Network: The company serves tens of thousands of veterinary practices nationwide, indicating a large, trusted footprint within the veterinary professional community.
However, it is also important for local users to be aware of certain aspects raised in customer feedback. Review commentary indicates potential challenges, including:
- Shipping Time: Customers have expressed frustration over delivery timelines, even for local Arizona residents, suggesting that orders should be placed "over a week in advance" to account for processing and shipping delays.
- Limited Local Pickup: Feedback shows that local pickup, even for nearby residents, is not always permitted or consistently applied, as delivery is the preferred and potentially mandatory fulfillment method.
- Shipping Integrity: Concerns have been raised regarding the safety of medication shipped during Arizona’s extreme heat, with one customer noting a rubber bulb bulging due to the high temperatures. This suggests a need for clear communication on temperature-sensitive packaging for residents.

- Mobile Phone (Toll-Free): +1 800-331-8272

What is Worth Choosing
Wedgewood Pharmacy is the clear choice for Arizona pet owners whose animals require a customized medication solution that cannot be provided by a standard retail pharmacy. What is truly worth choosing is their core competency: the compounding of specialized drugs into pet-friendly formats. If your cat refuses a pill, or your horse requires a precise, unique strength of medication, Wedgewood’s expertise in creating palatable Gourmeds®, Tiny Tabs®, and transdermal applications is invaluable. This is a critical service for pets with chronic, difficult-to-manage conditions, or those who are considered "non-compliant" with traditional medication. Furthermore, the company’s extensive history and PCAB accreditation provide an important layer of confidence in the quality and safety of the custom preparations, a factor that should be paramount when dealing with critical pet health.
However, prospective users must adopt a proactive approach to prescription management. Due to the stated challenges with shipping times and occasional customer service feedback, it is essential for Arizona residents to view Wedgewood not as a same-day service, but as a long-term, specialized pharmaceutical partner. Ordering refills well in advance—at least seven to ten days before a medication runs out—is a necessary safeguard to ensure continuity of care for your pet. When ordering during the intense summer heat of Arizona, owners should also inquire specifically about cold-chain packaging and shipping methods to prevent heat-related degradation of sensitive medications, a concern highlighted by local experience. By managing expectations regarding fulfillment time and prioritizing their unique compounding capabilities, Wedgewood Pharmacy remains an essential, professional resource for improving the quality of life for animals throughout the Arizona region.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Very disappointed first time using this pharmacy as I had no other choice and I ordered it on the 19th and I still haven’t received it after calling customer care, The attitude was basically oh well it’s in route and there’s nothing we can do about it even though I live in the same state as his pharmacy. Absolutely no career compassion for my animal that needs this medication. I will be speaking to my vet about potentially using another pharmacy. So if your vet only uses this pharmacy, make sure you order your medication over a week in advance. It will take that time for you to receive your medication
August 26 · Jennifer JonesI feel this place takes advantage of the fact they are a compound pharmacy. I didn't have a choice but to get my dogs medicine from here for $180!even though I drive by them daily they would not allow me to pick up her medicine and it took a week to ship it.As I told them I work for a pet store nearby and they DO allow us to pick up medicine for pets at our store.I can understand not paying for or dropping off a to prescription at the location but I don't understand allowing some to pick up and others to not. They made my poor dog go an extra week that was completely unnecessary without her medication.I also talked to them about it being so extremely hot right now and asked if it was going to be safe. when I got the bottle, the rubber bulb on the top of the syringe Was bulging out to one side about 3 times the size? It normally should be do to the heat
August 20 · Laura ShawNEVER ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY THAT DOESNT CARE ABOUT YOUR PET I ordered Pimobendan for my dog who has CHF. Critical medication for her health. I live in Glendale Arizona. The medication can not go above room temperature as it’s been compounded and is liquid. They sent it regular mail, and it sat in my mailbox for 9 hours, yesterday it reached a temperature of 111. It wasn’t a mistake, that’s what they do every time to save money on mail orders regardless of the medication requirements. If you want they will resend it if your tuned in enough to catch their mistake. A complete disregard for the safety of the medication and thus my fur babe. They do not care about your pet. ANY PHARMACY THAT TREATS MEDICATION LIKE THIS HAS NO REGARD FOR YOUR PET.
June 19 · NikoJust like most other new reviews, Wedgewood pharmacy now does not allow customers to pick up medications at the Scottsdale location any longer. Obviously, most Wedgewood customers are upset about this as the summers in AZ reach 117 degrees, and it is best for medications’ integrity to not be left outside in the extreme heat. But, Wedgewood does not care about the customers, they only care about THEIR COMPANY’S pocketbook! Stupid excuse from Wedgewood that they changed their policy to streamline deliveries 😂
June 25 · Tracy O'TooleFirst time ordering compounded meds from this company. Product sent by US Mail which sat in my hot mailbox most of the day until I got home from work. When I opened package, product label stated STORE AT "ROOM" TEMPERATURE! Why would they ship a pharmaceutical medicine by US Mail if it has to be stored at room temp??? Not even sure the product is okay to use at this point.
