Dr. Gregory Kurtz Introduce
For pet owners and livestock producers across East Central Indiana, finding reliable, expert, and compassionate veterinary care is paramount. Situated in Hagerstown, Dr. Gregory Kurtz's practice, known as Kurtz Veterinary Clinic, stands out as a long-established, multi-doctor facility dedicated to the health and well-being of both small pets and large farm animals. With a history of serving the local community for decades, this clinic embodies a commitment to high-quality medical services, delivered by a team of veterinarians who are deeply integrated into the state's professional veterinary community.
Dr. Gregory Kurtz, along with his co-owner and wife, Dr. Robyn Kurtz, are both graduates of the prestigious Purdue School of Veterinary Medicine (Class of '82). This deep Indiana connection ensures a practice rooted in state-of-the-art medical knowledge and a genuine understanding of local needs, from family pets to the large agricultural herds that are vital to the Indiana economy. The clinic operates as a four-doctor practice, serving a diverse clientele of livestock and companion animal owners.
The practice's ethos is centered on making every patient—and their owner—feel like part of the family, striving to make each visit as pleasant as possible. They recognize that each animal has unique needs, and their comprehensive service offerings reflect this, spanning routine preventative care for new puppies and kittens to complex surgical procedures and specialized large animal services like advanced dairy herd health consulting and cattle reproduction.
A true measure of a veterinary practice's dedication is seen in how they handle both routine visits and difficult, emotional times. Many long-time clients praise the staff's promptness, thoroughness, and professional demeanor. One client, recalling the loss of a long-term pet, spoke highly of the staff's kindness, consideration, and compassion, mentioning specifically the assistance given during a very hard day. Another highly rated comment highlights the gentle nature of the doctor and technician, noting that a senior cat, typically distressed at the vet, remained calm and that the condition was explained in detail. The recurring sentiment across multiple positive testimonials is a profound trust in the clinic to provide exceptional care, with one client stating, "I am always confident that everything possible has been done for my pet."
While the overwhelming sentiment speaks to high standards of care, the clinic has also faced challenges, as is true for any long-running, busy medical practice. One review highlighted a tragic instance of a kitten in sudden distress where a customer experienced a significant on-hold time and a lack of immediate, empathetic response upon informing the clinic of the kitten's death. This feedback, while concerning, serves as a crucial reminder for users that when dealing with highly time-sensitive, life-threatening emergencies, immediate communication protocols and capacity can be a challenge for any practice, and calling ahead is always recommended.
The clinic is strategically located to serve the East Central Indiana region, making it a convenient destination for both local residents and those traveling from surrounding areas for specialized care. Appointments are generally recommended to ensure your pet or livestock receives timely attention and to minimize wait times.

Dr. Gregory Kurtz Reviews
Dr Kurtz and the entire staff are always prompt, professional, and thorough with us and our pets. When we lost our Dachshund of 14 years last December, they were kind, considerate, and compassionate. Amanda knew exactly what to do when I just couldn’t find my words. I’m forever grateful to them for making a very hard day a little bit easier. Now they’re caring for our new puppy and they show him so much love and care that he actually likes going to the vet.
November 12 · Tammy DI told them I had a kitten in sudden distress with his breathing and they kept me on hold for over 15 minutes and then when someone finally came back on I had to repeat everything. The kitten died on the way out there. I tell them and they just say, “oh ok we’ll just go ahead and cancel his appointment”. Like it was no big deal.
