Fort Knox Veterinary Treatment Facility Introduce
The Fort Knox Veterinary Treatment Facility (VTF), located right on the installation, is a crucial resource dedicated to serving the pets of the military community in Kentucky. While its primary mission is the comprehensive care of all Government-Owned Animals, particularly Military Working Dogs, the professional staff extends their expertise to provide affordable and compassionate veterinary services for the privately-owned pets of active-duty, retired service members, reservists, national guard members, and their dependents.
For military families in the Fort Knox region, the VTF offers a dependable source for essential healthcare. The facility focuses on Preventive Medicine Services and Routine Care, ensuring that four-legged family members remain healthy and meet all installation requirements. Services are provided by Army Veterinary Corps personnel and dedicated civilian staff who understand the importance of pets to a military family’s well-being. This specialized environment ensures a deep understanding of the unique challenges and needs faced by those serving the nation.
The feedback from the community consistently highlights the exceptional compassion and professionalism of the staff. Customers frequently praise the caring and loving people at the facility. One deeply grateful user shared a touching experience of the clinic accommodating their terminally ill 16-year-old dog for a final appointment when their regular off-post vet could not. They noted that the staff was "so kind & accommodating on our pup's final day," making a difficult farewell "a bit easier." This level of empathy and dedication underscores the VTF's commitment to the military community.
It is important for all Kentucky-based pet owners using this facility to note that services for privately-owned animals are provided on an appointment-only, space-available basis and are subject to cancellation or rescheduling due to essential mission requirements. Additionally, due to limited manpower and resources, the VTF is not an Acute Care Facility or an Emergency Medicine center. Pets requiring urgent care or after-hours attention must be taken to a local full-service civilian veterinary hospital. The VTF strongly recommends that clients establish a relationship with an off-post veterinarian for these needs.
However, for routine wellness, annual requirements, and minor ailments, the Fort Knox VTF provides a valuable, cost-effective option that helps keep the pets of our service members healthy and safe.
The Fort Knox Veterinary Treatment Facility is centrally located on the Fort Knox military installation, easily accessible for all eligible personnel residing on and off-post.
Address: 192nd Tank Battalion Rd, Building 1006, Fort Knox, KY 40121, USA
Due to its nature as a government facility, appointments are highly recommended, and all services are provided on a pre-scheduled basis. The facility’s operating hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a one-hour closure for lunch.
The facility is committed to full accessibility for all patrons:

All pets residing on post must be registered at the VTF within a few days of arrival and must be current on all required Health Immunizations and microchipping as per installation regulations. All personnel must present a valid Uniformed Services CAC or ID Privilege card to obtain services.
The Fort Knox Veterinary Treatment Facility focuses on a comprehensive range of Routine Care and preventative medical services for Dogs and Cats. The services offered include:

October 07 · Lynette McCarthyEven though we were stationed here at Knox, we lived off post so this wasn't our regular vet. However when our 16-year old dog's health rapidly declined, our regular vet couldn't squeeze in a final appointment quick enough. This vet clinic did.The staff was so kind & accommodating on our pup's final day. They made the hard thing a bit easier. She went to sleep peacefully.Thank you!

August 09 · Joseph WorrellWe have been going to the Fort Knox Vet Clinic since we moved here in 2020. Best doctor and team we could ever hope for. When we first moved here, my cat, Suds, had severe stomatitis and they helped us find the perfect surgeon to perform her surgery that saved her life. Years later, Suds got sick again due to old age. The team did everything they could to save her a second time, but unfortunately it was her time to go. The whole team were extremely kind and were with us every step of the way. I could see they cared about her too. Just today I received a condolences card from the team after having lost Suds last week. If we ever move back here and I have another kitty in the future, the Fort Knox vet clinic will forever have my business. The best team and care we’ve ever had.
December 23 · Carolyn PulverThe vet office here on Fort Knox is amazing, they are always extremely professional and accommodating; even with busy schedules on both sides! Robin has been amazing to schedule appointments and information when needed. We are extremely pleased and sad the day we have to depart. Also, they are extremely familiar with PCS of pets overseas and are a one stop shop! Takes a lot of stress off our shoulders.
