August 05 · Steve O'MaraThe staff at Horizon Animal Hospital have always been so helpful and professional. The testing done before her dental cleaning discovered that she has a heart murmur. They were able to adjust her anesthesia because of this condition. My little senior dog came home safely and had a speedy recovery. They also take the time to answer my questions over the phone. I have always been very happy with the excellent care she receives here. I highly recommend taking your pet here.
June 14 · Dee GalvinThe absolute best veterinary practice in my experience. Since I discovered Horizon Animal Hospital 4 years ago, I never hesitate to drive an hour each way because of how well we are treated here. Several times we have been squeezed in due to last minute issues and every time it’s been a wonderful experience. I never feel like a burden when I call. No matter who answers the phone, they are always kind and ready to answer any question or address any concerns. Making appointments is easy and we are never kept waiting long when we are there for an appointment. We normally see Dr Patterson who is a total saint and so incredibly kind and patient. Most recently she performed a c-section on my dog that was expecting a singleton puppy. Dr. Patterson (and the techs) did an amazing job and the incision was almost completely healed not even a week later. I have another young dog that has had a multitude of issues and she’s been beyond helpful in getting him the proper care. We’ve seen Dr. Penn and Dr. Emily on occasion and they have also been amazing. We love all of the techs as well. Everyone here is amazing! The prices are reasonable and I have never felt pressured to have anything done that’s not completely necessary. Keep up the amazing work, Horizon Animal Hospital!
April 22 · Mary KrissIf I could give zero stars, I would. It has taken me months to find the strength to write this, but after processing everything that happened with Dr. Penn and his office, I feel it’s important to share. I would never want another family to go through the pain and trauma we experienced. We lost our sweet Golden Retriever, Leia, after a terrible experience with Dr. Penn at Horizon Animal Hospital. We went to him specifically for an ultrasound, hoping to get answers about Leia’s vomiting. Instead, he gave us vague results and immediately pushed for surgery. When we said we wanted a second opinion, he got aggressive and warned that waiting could kill her—pressuring us into saying yes. In a panic, we said yes, and it was the worst choice I could ever make. After the surgery, Dr. Penn told us the findings were inconclusive and casually admitted he did not even finish the procedure himself—it had been handed off to someone else. We were shocked. We assumed Leia would stay overnight, but only then were we told Horizon doesn’t offer overnight care. He recommended we transfer her to a third-party ICU but insisted we pick her up before 5 PM when they closed. On our way there, we got two calls from his office pushing us to hurry. When we arrived, Leia was unconscious, unbandaged, covered in dried blood, and barely hanging on. There were no real instructions—just a rushed handoff with her on a stretcher, loaded into our car. She died three days later from sepsis. The ICU hospital confirmed her surgical site was not closed properly. While we were at the ICU, another animal arrived in almost the same condition—also from Dr. Penn office. I can only pray that the dog survived. We believe Dr. Penn is a butcher who cares more about money than the animals he treats. We deeply regret not looking into the complaints already filed against him with the AVMA.
August 04 · Laurie JohnsonNEW - Your record keeping is bad as well. Had 2 dogs. 1 had check up 2019, Valley Fever, 2020 and subsequent invoices most recently from 2024 for check ups. Gee I wonder why I paid those? Check your records March 8 2025 I called for seizures for 1 dog you couldn't see....office said was "too busy"...went to ER, next day he was euthanized. Regardless both dogs had rabies by you and just received reminders from you April 2025 about new vacs/exam.My dog was diagnosed as possibly passing small clots in addition to ear infection. On 3 meds and needed urine test to confirm protein levels that would indicate clot issues. Horizon refused to do the test my dog since it was 3 months past due for rabies …3 months not years or not like he’s never been vaxed. I explained until I get results of test, vaccinations could give him nausea since he is not eating much already due to meds he was given by emergency care. They didn’t care but I should have known since my other dog was put down by ER vet in March because Horizon was too busy to see him. Don’t go here!
