Midwestern University Companion Animal Clinic Introduce
For pet owners across the Valley, the Midwestern University Companion Animal Clinic in Glendale, AZ, stands out as a unique and advanced resource for veterinary medicine. Situated within the state-of-the-art Animal Health Institute, this facility operates as a prominent teaching hospital, blending academic excellence with community-focused veterinary care. For Arizona residents, this means access to cutting-edge technology and comprehensive services, often at a more affordable price point compared to some private specialty hospitals.
The clinic is committed to providing complete, high-quality care for small animals, including dogs and cats, from routine wellness checks to complex specialty procedures. This mission is twofold: to offer exceptional animal healthcare to the local community and to provide quality, hands-on training for the next generation of veterinarians. Students work under the direct supervision of highly experienced, licensed faculty veterinarians, ensuring that all patients receive expert attention utilizing the latest protocols and treatments.
While the 'teaching hospital' model naturally offers immense benefits—such as access to the newest diagnostic equipment like CT scanners and Endoscopy—it is important for prospective clients in the Arizona area to be aware of the operational dynamics. Due to the educational environment and the potential for a high volume of complex cases, the facility operates primarily by appointment, and while Urgent Care is provided, clients should be prepared for the realities that can accompany a hospital structure focused on thorough, layered care. One shared experience noted the compassionate end-of-life services, offering a private room and garden for final goodbyes, highlighting a strong commitment to the human-animal bond, even in the most difficult moments. However, another experience pointed to potential internal communication challenges and long delays in completing authorized treatments due to prioritization of other cases, which prospective clients should factor into their expectations, particularly for non-emergency situations. The clinic's staff and faculty strive for excellence and compassion, making it a valuable, comprehensive option for complex and routine Animal Healthcare.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I can’t say enough how thankful I am for this place. It was my first visit and sadly it was time to let go of our 14 year old dog. It was such a hard goodbye but they made us feel very welcome and comfortable. We had a private room and garden to say goodbye. Thank you for making a hard time somewhat a great experience for us. Currently waiting for the ashes of our little babe.
April 07 · Karina HernandezI chose this clinic because it’s a teaching hospital and I expected a thoughtful, collaborative approach to my dog’s care. My dog is paralyzed and struggles with chronic urinary tract infections, so I was hopeful for expert attention. The visit started on time and the intake was thorough, but after the initial exam and treatment plan approval, everything fell apart. I waited over five hours while my dog was kept in a cage. They only completed basic lab work (blood and urinalysis) — none of the diagnostic imaging or ultrasound that I had authorized. I was later told they were too busy and had other emergencies, yet no one updated me or offered to let me comfort my anxious dog.Even more frustrating, one of the two prescribed medications wasn’t filled because “the doctor didn’t have time to approve it.” When I expressed my concern, I was scolded by the attending doctor rather than given any explanation or apology. This was my first and last visit. The lack of communication, compassion, and accountability was astounding. People deserve to know how poorly managed this facility is — and that “teaching hospital” apparently means long delays, incomplete care, and zero empathy.
October 06 · Chris RinghoferI have suffered a lot, I even have nightmares, because I know that Sun had more life to live, Sun has always been very healthy, never got sick in 14 years , and at her first obstacle, they didn't want to take care of her because of her age 👀It's in the video is Sun, one day before being sentenced to death. The students simply didn’t even want to help her! Oh, she didn't pee 🙄 Didn't you think that she was scared of being among strangers and having an anxiety attack because she was away from me? Didn't you think that she always only peed on the grass? And another thing, she had already peed with me 2 hours before...well... for those who are looking for a place to kill their baby, this is a great place, they are great at it, they are kind and polite! For them it is easier to kill than to treat! I thought it was all in my head, but talking to a friend, you did the same thing with her dog 😢Here the conversation: I know it's hard, and you can't get that thought out of your head. That's what happened to me when they treated Tundra(dog) at Midwestern University, they did the same thing!Anyway... God knows I would fight for my daughter until the end, but if the vets are too lazy to work, I couldn't do alone, but I know that if you had more will, she would be here with me now 😢 please, they are part of our lives and our family 💔 If you have chosen this profession?? Please try harder, do your best each day!
April 15 · Cantinho da SelminhaWe are so grateful for Midwestern! Our dog Shelby needed emergency surgery and the level of care she received was top notch. Dr. Stone was so caring and took a lot of time explaining her discharge instructions thoroughly to us. I wish all doctors were like him for us humans as well! We are going to make Midwestern her vet clinic moving forward. We are so happy with their level of care and compassion. Thank you so much to Dr. Stone and his student team 🥰
May 24 · Julie SanchezDO NOT EVEN BOTHER!! I was trying to get my dog in for a dental. Was given the phone number of the scheduler. Only got voice mail which said they would call back within 2 days. It is a week and a half later and still NOTHING!!I called in today and the regular schedular said they are booked up for months and not to bother, that they would not even talk to me about scheduling for months!! I have a dog whose teeth need attention. We have been patients at Midwestern Vet Clinic, but that does not matter. You are still treated like trash. THEY DO NOT CARE!!! Nice to know how they are training our future Veterinarians to not care as long as you have other patients. What a great attitude I received today. It is almost as if they do not even care about the animals. Not 1 question of how is my dog doing, not 1 question of how serious is it, not 1 question about the health of my dog.Just be careful if you do get in. If you have an emergency, good luck getting seen, make an appointment for 3 weeks down the road and hope you baby is still alive then. There is no loyalty there, nothing. If you do decide to try them, good luck.
