Veterinary Emergency Group Introduce
For pet owners in Arizona, knowing where to turn when a crisis strikes is paramount. The Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Phoenix stands as a critical resource, offering round-the-clock, 24-hour emergency veterinary services. Located conveniently in the central part of the city, VEG Phoenix is designed from the ground up to handle life-threatening emergencies, urgent care needs, and all unexpected health issues that simply cannot wait for a regular primary care veterinarian's hours.
VEG distinguishes itself not only by being open 24/7, 365 days a year, but also through a unique, customer-focused model of care. This approach prioritizes immediate attention and transparency, ensuring that pets are stabilized rapidly and that pet parents are involved and informed throughout the entire process. The overwhelming customer feedback highlights the staff's competency, kindness, and caring demeanor, particularly in what is often a terrifying situation. As one grateful client noted, the team “immediately stabilized her and provided outstanding care” in a life-threatening emergency, making the experience feel “grateful to be in such good hands.”
The clinic’s mission is clearly focused on helping people and their pets when they need it most, whether it's a critical injury, a sudden illness, or even just concerns about a recently spayed puppy. The ability to connect with a doctor quickly for reassurance, sometimes even via email review of photos to prevent an unnecessary trip, demonstrates a genuine commitment to alleviating stress for Arizona pet families.

- Emergency Surgery: A highly trained emergency veterinarian is always on site to perform critical surgical procedures, including foreign body removal, C-sections, and treatment for conditions like GDV (twisted stomach).
- Exotic Pet Emergency Care: The team is equipped to treat various pets "from tails to scales," including the emergency needs of Birds, Exotic Animals, and Large Animals.
- Non-Invasive Procedures: Use of techniques like endoscopy to safely and gently remove foreign objects without the need for traditional surgery in many cases.
- Hospitalization and Treatment: Full in-house treatment, including fluid therapy, oxygen therapy, and transfusions, with the unique option for pet owners to stay with their hospitalized pet.
- Triage and Immediate Assessment: Quick assessment upon arrival, often within minutes, to stabilize the pet and determine the required treatment plan.
VEG Phoenix stands out in the crowded emergency veterinary field by prioritizing immediate, transparent, and empathetic care. These highlights are what make the facility a trusted choice for Arizona pet owners facing a health crisis.
- Open Door, Stay-Together Policy: Owners are allowed and encouraged to stay with their pet throughout their treatment, including during triage, diagnostics, and hospitalization, offering reassurance to both the pet and the owner.
- Open 24/7/365: The facility is always open, including all holidays, ensuring that expert care is available exactly when the unexpected happens, as demonstrated by the client who visited “early on Labor Day morning.”
- Immediate Veterinary Attention: The process includes being "warmly greeted and taken back to start vitals and triage" almost immediately, with minimal to zero wait time for critical cases.
- Comprehensive Pet Range: Emergency care is available for all types of pets, including dogs, cats, Birds, Exotic Animals, and Large Animals, showcasing a wide scope of expertise.
- Inclusive and Welcoming Environment: The clinic is noted as an LGBTQ+ friendly space and transgender safespace, alongside having gender-neutral restrooms, promoting comfort for all community members.
- Proactive Communication: The staff is consistently praised for being incredibly friendly, reassuring, and keeping pet parents well-informed throughout observation and treatment, providing estimates and explaining every step.
- Comfort and Empathy: The team focuses on reducing stress for both pets and owners, even bringing pets a cozy bed to rest on and allowing owners to interact and cuddle with their pets, even in serious situations.
In a pet emergency, the most important step is to call ahead while en route to ensure the team is prepared for your arrival.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The staff at the camelback clinic is absolutely amazing! We visited early on Labor Day morning, around 5 or 6 am, with our older dog due to some behavioral concerns. As soon as we arrived, we were warmly greeted and taken back to start vitals and triage on our pup. Within 20 minutes, they provided us with an estimate of everything he needed, including labs, imaging, and an exam. The staff was incredibly friendly, reassuring, and communicative throughout the process. They even brought him a cozy bed to rest on.On top of that, the clinic had recently received two adorable puppies found wandering by PHX PD. In addition to the puppies, there were a few other pets in the clinic. I was allowed to interact with them and even play and cuddle with one of the puppies (pictured). They kept our pup under observation that day and kept us well informed about his progress and when he was ready to go home. He’s much better since then.We recently adopted a new puppy who had been recently spayed, and I had some concerns about it. I called the office, and within 5 minutes, I was connected with a doctor. They reassured me that my concerns were normal and offered to review the photos via email to ensure everything was okay. This way, I didn’t have to come in unless it was an emergency.Again I cannot say enough good things about this clinic and their care team. BRING YOUR PETS HERE!!! ❤️
September 25 · Jania JohnsonVEG is truly exceptional. I brought my dog in with a life threatening emergency and they immediately stabilized her and provided outstanding care throughout her stay. Everyone who cared for her was so competent, kind, and caring. We felt so grateful to be in such good hands in such a scary situation. They allow and encourage you to be with your pet throughout their treatment and I can honestly say they saved Abby’s life and I would recommend Veterinary Emergency Group to anyone in need of emergency care for a pet!!
October 13 · Kelli WellsThe best vet I have ever been to. The staff was very friendly and you can tell that they are there to help not only your pet but you. I went to another place around 4:45pm and they told me “you just missed the doctor” which I thought was crazy and so I called VEG and ranted to them and they made me feel comfortable and told me they could absolutely help my Nellie. It was a little pricey and honestly I probably didn’t even have to come in but they still did everything they could to help which included antibiotics and cleaning solution. They were also very sweet with Nellie and very nice people.
October 08 · Natalee MelvinAmazing staff! Literally living their calling and providing compassionate care to our fur babies! They helped save Max on his worst day! He was practically going septic and ended up having a huge infectious abscess in his hind leg. The team took amazing care of him and the doc was able to drain over a liter of pus out of that leg. Max is home and recovering now. Thank you Phoenix VEG! We are forever grateful!
July 19 · Jessica LetuliI can’t express enough how great the staff and services are at the VEG on camelback road. I have been there a few times with my very large fear reactive mastiff. It is always a stressful situation going in for both me and my dog. Fears someone will judge me or him for something that is already difficult for us both. The staff here have always treated us so kindly and understanding. They constantly checked on my welfare and stress while also providing my dog such love and compassion. He requires full sedation before he will allow anyone to touch him. They always know exactly what to give him that gets him out with the least amount of stress and reverses the sedation quicker than his general vet office. This last visit we were in for a deep cut that required stitches. Because of his large size and bad hips and elbows, moving him while sedated isn’t always easy or great for him. So they set up the exam room so that he was comfortable, it was safe and required little movement for him. This whole process can take hours, and during that time they checked in my welfare and needs as well as my Dog’s. They were so friendly and made me feel right at home while still being professional. They made me feel like a person and not a neurotic dog mom. I can not recommend this emergency clinic and their staff enough. I will always recommend them to anyone needing emergency vet services. I just wish I could use them as my full time GP! Thank you VEG for everything. Obi and I are forever grateful.
