October 08 · Antionette BarrettI was sent a text to review, so here we go. Around 10 yrs ago I used Banfield for my dog, Beownie, and cat, Mila, which both have since passed over the Rainbow Bridge. I'd seen them in Petsmart every time I went in and figured since I already go to Petsmart, knock two birds out. I'd found a coupon for a wellness check up in some kind of printed media. I had multiple since I couponed and called Banfield to see if I can use both because I had a dog and a cat. They said yes and gave me whoever's name when I asked who I talked to. So, I made an appointment for my fur children who have unfortunately passed on as of a year and almost a years ago.Appointment time came and they do the wellness exam like I specifically asked and nothing more. I go out to the desk and present the coupons they verified I can use prior to the specific service that was listed on the coupon had been done. It's at this point they inform me my bill is around $500 total for a wellness exam and I can't use either coupon. What?!? Since I'd gone into it thinking per their verification I wouldn't be charged for the wellness exam, I didn't think I would need that much. In addition, I worked atva vet office and wellness exams and visits were never that much unless it was for more added things. Ridiculous pricing point! In order to lower my bill to nothing that visit, I would need to join this plan that is paid monthly. Although the plan did cover a lot of things, I just wanted to have what was told to me prior to going in the room.My husband stepped in and asked the amount to pay monthly and said ok to their scammy demands to end the merry go round like conversation. Begrudgingly, the paper was signed and the following month money came out. After using Banfield a short time (because I felt we were paying way too much for things), I started looking for other options. Thankfully, I found a better one with a much better price point and no forced monthly payments. We called Banfield to cancel the plan and were informed though payment is monthly, we would have to pay the remainder of the year for both pets. My husband was furious and went off addressing their scammy behavior then paid the remainder of the year which was about 2 months each. Thankfully, it was peak season where we work and we actually had the amount plus some at our disposal. However it was our hard-earned money and it left a really bad taste in our mouths. After the experience we had their with the denial of using the coupons they told us we could use to the pretty much forcing people who are just trying to take care of their fur babies properly by going to the vet for simple and not so simple things to holding us hostage and forcing even more to be spent without being able to use the vet office the remaining 2 months that we paid, we will NEVER use Banfield again. There may have been changes since, but the hassle with them was awful.Friends and family generally come to me for help on where to go for vet care and basic information in general because I worked in the animal field for years. They trust my word and I will not put them through what was experienced at Banfield. So, I will NEVER recommend anyone use them because of the scammy behavior we experienced. They may have changed since we took our babies there but I'm not going to find out.
September 15 · Rhonda PettyjohnPLEASE READ REVIEWS BEFORE CHOOSING THIS CLINICMy pups have had some tummy issues the last couple of days, so I called around and reached out to Banfield Outer Loop as they had the soonest availability. I called to confirm the cost of bringing both my dogs, and the gentleman that spoke with me was kind enough to ask if, given their symptoms, I could drop them off at 7AM the following morning instead of opting for my ~2:30 PM appointment. Obviously with these cases it's the sooner the better, so I rearranged my schedule for the day to make that happen, expressed my thanks, we move on.The day of, I bring my two dogs as instructed, and I'm waiting out in the starts of rain for a while, ringing the bell to be let in. When I finally am, no one responds to my greetings which is just odd and rude. I mean, literally just walked away/ignored me lol - unbelievable. At the reception desk, the woman again didn't care to interact with me/my dogs, ignoring me when I initially spoke and just having a poor disposition. I'm not expecting sunshine and rainbows at 7:15 AM, but you're in a customer-facing role dealing with people's literal pride and joy in a time of immense stress - you'd think some empathy would be present. When we did speak, she told me my appointment was for 8AM, not 7AM. Frustrating, but whatever. After I asked if I was supposed to take them home and bring them back, or what could be done because I know what I was instructed to do, she reluctantly said she'd go ask if the doctor could see them now. We finish check in, I go to the back with my dogs, leave them in their care. The technician seemed to be more helpful, but did inform me that the doctor likely wouldn't be in until 8, 8:30, or 9AM - okay... so no doctor was even on site at this point. Drop off was completed by 7:23 AM.I waited but when nothing was communicated to me after 10 AM, I called and asked if my pets had been seen and was told the doctor was still in surgery. I asked if I could come pick my dogs up to take them elsewhere, confirmed that I could, and headed back. When I arrived and was waiting in the waiting room, the doctor peeked in and said she had a pet coming out of anaesthesia and she hadn't had a chance to do anything but peek at my dogs in the kennels. The tech then came in and explained some medication pricing to me for the meantime. All in all, I ended up paying for an exam and some anti diarrhea tablets which I hope help, but I don't even know if my dogs were actually seen.I appreciate the honesty of the vet and the technicians were nice enough, but overall this was a super disappointing experience. I likely won't be back to this location at the very least.
June 17 · SydneyWORST VET POSSIBLE!!! They only care about money NOT your pet!Took my cat weeks ago he had some thing going on with his eye, they wanted to charge me 550 to do “testing” when I said I just can’t afford that much it changed to oh okay it’s just an allergy it cost me 230.00 but of course they wanted more tests to give medication! So first you wanna charge me all this money in testing to see what’s wrong then it was more money in testing for medication! Here we are a few weeks later and he is showing symptoms of an upper respiratory infection and it started right off by “let me see what we need to quote you for” and she said 350 in testing being bloodwork, and other testing, I said why can’t he just be examined that’s what the “office visit” cost is for! I said I can’t afford all that money in testing and she said “the doctor said she won’t prescribe him any medication without cancer testing and bloodwork” I said what do I absolutely have to pay to get him medication then she changed her entire game plan and said “the testing he needs can’t be done here it needs to be sent off and we can’t do anything until them results are back” by then he will be better. Just days ago a kitten in my home was taken to the vet with the exact symptoms and was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection without hundreds of dollars in testing! I begged and asked to please look at him and help they said “we can’t look but there must be diagnostic testing” So basically if you don’t have hundreds of dollars to throw away for tests NOT NEEDED then you won’t get any help! This place is the worst! I have taken several pets here and it’s shown me it’s always the same thing all about money! Then they make you feel like absolute crap if you can’t dish out the hundreds of dollars for the crap not needed to help your pet. They could care less about what’s actually wrong with your pet, just chasing that money! WORST VET POSSIBLE! Banfield you should be ashamed how you do business!
August 19 · Amber MillerIm not sure about other locations but the Outer loop location located inside petsmart is absolutely horrible! I've taken a few of my animals here & its been the same horrible experience every single time!! They do not know how to care for your animals properly. The staff (who are supposed to be trained may I add) are very timid and scared of the animals they're supposed to take care of. They do not take time to get to know your pet but expect your pet to immediately be okay and go with them. My personal experience with them gave me weird vibes, very little educated staff members gave my dog the wrong dosage of some strong anxiety meds after I asked if she needed that much 3 times come to find out it was the wrong dose and my dog had already taken it!!!!! Trazadone and gabapentin over 600 mgs in my dog!!!! They clipped her quick and let her run around with blood pouring from her paws bc they were "scared" even though they were in her face and she was not aggressive at all! They tried to charge me extra bc my dog has anxiety and was scared to muzzle her absolutely not acceptable! Rude staff members up front working offered 0 comfort or answers to my questions when I could hear them in the back telling my pup to shut up and quit whining I could hear them dragging her with the leash back to the crate to the point she was gagging and dry heaving she was so scared! I will NEVER bring another animal to this specific Banfield location again. Oh and do not get me started on the conditions the vet is in, MOLD everywhere in the ceiling vents and light fixtures, left over blood, feces, urine from the animal before on the ground, hair piled up so bad it looks as if they do not sanitize or wipe down ever! Its never the same dr there they rotate so idk which one was there that specific day.
