Crestwood Animal Hospital Introduce
For pet owners across the Bluegrass State, particularly those in the Crestwood and Oldham County areas, finding a veterinary practice that offers comprehensive, compassionate, and state-of-the-art care is paramount. Crestwood Animal Hospital, located conveniently in Crestwood, KY, distinguishes itself not only as a full-service animal hospital but also as a practice deeply committed to the emotional well-being of its patients. Identifying as a woman-owned business, this clinic has garnered a reputation for specializing in a wide range of complex needs, from exotic animal medicine to managing high-anxiety and protective dog breeds.
The practice proudly operates under a 'Fear-Free' philosophy, a commitment that is immediately evident in the professional and patient manner of the staff. This approach is particularly valued by owners of large, protective, or nervous dogs, like German Shepherds, as noted in several glowing customer reviews. The staff's experience with anxious animals, including having protective dogs of their own, allows them to approach these pets with a unique understanding and respect for boundaries, transforming potentially stressful veterinary visits into calm, successful experiences. This specialized knowledge and calm demeanor provides an exceptional sense of peace of mind for Kentucky pet parents.
Crestwood Animal Hospital goes far beyond routine checkups. Its extensive list of services includes advanced surgical procedures like Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) for cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injuries, a sophisticated orthopedic surgery that helps pets regain mobility. Additionally, they are equipped with advanced rehabilitative tools, notably an underwater treadmill for canine physical therapy, showcasing their commitment to complete recovery and long-term health management.
While the hospital has a history of providing exceptional, even "amazing" care, and is highly accredited (AAHA, Cat Friendly, Fear-Free), prospective clients should be aware of recent internal challenges indicated in some customer feedback. Specifically, some clients have reported issues with timely communication regarding prescription refills and pharmacy processes, along with changes to previous loyalty programs. These concerns suggest potential strains on administrative and operational resources, which can impact vital care. However, the consistent praise for the veterinary medical staff and the high-quality care received in person remains a significant highlight of the practice.
Crestwood Animal Hospital is located at a prominent and easily accessible address in the heart of Crestwood, a key community in Oldham County, Kentucky. Crestwood Animal Hospital Reviews

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1After moving from Dallas, TX to Crestwood, KY, I had to find a new vet for our German Shepherd, who’s very protective and often leaves us with limited options. I tried Crestwood Animal Hospital because of their great reviews and for being fear-free. I couldn’t imagine them being better than my vet in Texas, but I was pleasantly surprised. Many of their staff also have protective or anxious German Shepherds, and they specialize in high-anxiety dogs. They were phenomenal. The staff wasn’t intimidated by his size, stayed calm, and understood that you can’t just walk into the room and try to pet him. They respected his boundaries, approached everything with patience, and truly seemed to understand his needs. The entire visit went perfectly. For anyone with a protective or anxious dog, especially bigger breeds, I couldn’t recommend Crestwood Animal Hospital more. The peace of mind and care they provided was outstanding.
July 24 · Mike KirchnerRECENT EDIT: Takashi had passed away...I hope youre happy...Id like to start by saying that the low stars are for recent developements and such. This place use to be AMAZING and id always leave with my little guy feeling all better.Im not sure if its new management or simply new policy or what but the amazing care i use to get and feel from this place is starting to go away...Im currently at the emergency vet overnight, with my little dog in critical condition. Why? Because despite knowing the condition my dog was in, due to a visit day before, they decided to not send a vital med scrip in to my local pharmacy (im 45 mins or so away), to stop his nausea so he could eat and drink. Instead they decided to not ask me for my pnarmacy and filled it there, expecting me to come out and get it and i told them i couldnt. They kept saying maybe they would be able to send it to my pharmacy or maybe not. It was put on a 'list' for another day despite it being absolutely vital AND despite the vet we saw having said to call next day if he wasnt eating so i could have it prescribed. It didnt happen so now im having to spend 3k or more at this emergency vet when i would have only had to spend the money on the much needed meds before...Not only that but my deposit still has yet to hit my bank account despite them saying they refunded it.Also would like to note that one lady, who ive spoken to a good few times on the phone, is VERY lackluster and uncaring when speaking to you on the phone. Shes usually in later in the evening. She sounds more annoyed about you calling and like she could care less about your animals health or well being. She should probably not man the phones. This vet has cost me thousands and put my little guys life at risk due to them not caring about getting his vital meds out to my pharmacist. I honestly dont think ill ever go back again, and ive been with them for years. What happened to yall?Youre caring less, seem understaffed, taking away the nifty petcare plans and points system yall had, and instead of my dog feeling better after seeing yall, like he use to every time, he ended up worse off due to simple lack of giving a damn.I am crushed and this has stressed myself and my elderly dog an insane amount. I cannot justify going back when yall cost me thousands...Your establishment is going downhill...
August 04 · Cody MekaleWe absolutely love Crestwood Animal Hospital—for all our pets, but especially our bunnies! From the moment we walk in, Dr. Ty and the entire team go above and beyond to ensure our fur‑kids are healthy, happy, and stress‑free. Dr. Ty’s expertise and gentle manner put both us and our bunnies at ease, and every staff member treats our pets like their own. What really sets Crestwood apart is their dedication to clear communication. They patiently explain every procedure, answer all of our questions, and make sure we feel confident in our care plan. Whether it’s a routine check‑up or a special concern, they tailor their approach to our pets’ unique personalities and needs.Visiting Crestwood Animal Hospital never feels rushed—they take the time to connect, reassure, and educate. We trust them completely, and our bunnies always hop away happy (and so do we!). If you want compassionate, knowledgeable veterinarians who truly care, look no further than Crestwood Animal Hospital. We can’t recommend them highly enough!
May 05 · Amanda CraigThe staff are always kind and attentive to myself and my bunny when we visit. I intentionally make the 1.5 hour drive to Crestwood because I know my bunny will be cared for and that I will receive expert input on his health. During my most recent visit, Dr. Ty was very thorough in examining my bunny, and he provided suggestions that were much appreciated for his long term health.
July 01 · Berenice BlantonAt the end of March this year, we had to put our cat Roody down. Her vet (who I won’t name, but I will never bring another fur baby to them again) did not allow us to bring her in to be put down. She was actively dying in my arms, and they said there was no available time for us to bring her.She was in kidney failure for 4 years (we managed it very well and she passed just before her 19th birthday, it was her time), and she was on fluids at home for a few weeks before she rapidly declined in a matter of 36 hours. We called probably 7 vets in a 15-20 mile radius and they were either closed, had multiple emergency cases, or told us they couldn’t take her. When we called Crestwood, they immediately asked what time we would get there so they could be ready. We had an absolutely wonderful experience, despite having so go through something so horrific. Every single member of staff we interacted with was so incredibly kind, they explained everything so well and made something so difficult slightly bearable. They even let us go out the back after she passed so we wouldn’t have to walk through the crowded waiting room.I cannot thank Crestwood animal hospital and their staff enough, you are all incredible!
