Scottsdale Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center Introduce
For pet owners across the Arizona region, finding a trusted center for advanced and urgent veterinary needs is paramount. Scottsdale Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center (SVSEC) is an esteemed facility in Scottsdale, Arizona, dedicated to providing the highest level of specialized medical care for your companion animals. Unlike a standard primary care veterinary office, SVSEC operates as a Veterinary Referral hospital, focusing on complex or critical conditions that require the expertise of specialists and advanced equipment.
The facility excels in two main areas: immediate, life-saving Emergency And Critical Care, and in-depth, long-term Specialty Referral services. This unique structure ensures that when a pet is suddenly and alarmingly ill, or when a chronic issue requires advanced solutions, the most knowledgeable team is ready to intervene. This commitment to expertise and immediate attention is what allowed a client's dog, Teka, to be seen immediately despite a critical sinus issue that four previous veterinarians could not address quickly.
SVSEC's approach is highly collaborative. The professionals here are specialists—they work directly with your regular family veterinarian, serving as an extension of their practice to offer Diagnostic And Therapeutic services that might not be available elsewhere. Their goal is always to treat the complicated issue and then return the pet to the care of the primary veterinarian for routine and preventative services, creating a seamless circle of exceptional care.
The dedication of the staff, including highly-regarded veterinarians like Dr. Craig, is evident in the profound impact they have on pet families, even when delivering difficult news. They are consistently praised for being "incredibly thorough and knowledgeable," yet also "informative, clear, concise, encouraging and empathetic," providing the support needed to navigate difficult diagnoses and ensuring the best possible quality of life for the pet's remaining time.
Situated in the heart of North Scottsdale, the facility's location provides essential, high-level specialty and emergency care to the entire Phoenix metropolitan area and beyond. Even for clients traveling from the West Side of the Valley, as noted in one review, the long drive is considered worthwhile for the quality of care received, establishing SVSEC as a regional center of excellence.
The facility’s address is:
Address: 22595 N Scottsdale Rd #120, Scottsdale, AZ 85255, USA
The center is committed to ensuring comfort and accessibility for all visitors, particularly during the stressful nature of an emergency visit:
- A convenient Wheelchair accessible parking lot is available directly outside the entrance.
- The building features a Wheelchair accessible entrance for easy, stress-free access for all clients.
- A clean and accessible Restroom, including a Wheelchair accessible restroom, is available for public use.
This attention to detail in maintenance and accessibility, noted as "impressively well maintained" by a client, contributes to a less stressful environment during often difficult circumstances.
Scottsdale Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center is built on a foundation of advanced Veterinary Surgical and internal medicine expertise. They are specifically structured to handle cases that go beyond the scope of general practice, often requiring a Veterinary Referral from a primary care vet. Their services are intensive and advanced, designed for the sickest or most injured pets.
- Emergency And Critical Care: Immediate, life-saving treatment for severe trauma, acute illnesses, and critical conditions, available 24/7. This includes rapid stabilization and intensive care for conditions like foreign body ingestion (e.g., a pup who ate a corn-on-the-cob) and life-threatening issues.
- Veterinary Referral and Specialty Medicine: Providing highly specialized services typically requested by your primary veterinarian for complex, long-standing, or severe diseases. This focus ensures your pet benefits from the most current knowledge and training in veterinary medicine.
- Advanced Diagnostics And Treatment: Utilizing state-of-the-art technology and expertise for accurate diagnosis of complicated internal issues, such as chronic sinus problems that required intensive testing and imaging for Teka.
- Veterinary Surgical Procedures: Offering a wide range of advanced surgical options that require specialized training, often in fields like orthopedics, soft tissue surgery, and emergency procedures.
- Eye Care: Providing specialized services for conditions affecting the eyes and vision, ensuring comprehensive care for delicate ocular issues.
- Diagnostic And Therapeutic Services: Implementing sophisticated procedures, often involving advanced imaging and laboratory work, to pinpoint problems and deliver targeted treatment plans.
- Continuing Education: The professional staff is committed to rigorous Continuing Education, ensuring that the care provided is always based on the most innovative and evidence-based Veterinary medicine available.
- Primary Care (Limited Focus): While the primary focus is specialty and emergency, the team's depth of knowledge also includes a foundational understanding of preventative health, which is integrated into specialty treatment plans, though routine Preventative Care like annual vaccinations is typically handled by the referring veterinarian.
The features and highlights of Scottsdale Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center underscore its role as a leading emergency and specialty institution in the Arizona pet health landscape:
- Specialty Referral Model: The facility operates as a dedicated referral center, meaning the focus is exclusively on advanced, complex cases. This structure ensures every pet receives care from doctors who are highly focused in their respective specialties.
- Immediate Emergency Response: The staff is trained for rapid intervention, demonstrated by the quick stabilization of Teka and the immediate attention given to the pup who ingested a corn-on-the-cob, getting the pet "in and out in a couple of hours" and feeling "soo much better now."

- Commitment to Collaboration: The center works in tandem with primary care veterinarians, providing a crucial safety net and resource for the local veterinary community and ensuring continuity of care for pets in the region.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I could NEVER, fully express my immense PLEASURE, respect, admiration and shear JOY, in finding Scottsdale Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center, in a dire time in one of my four "Girls" life. The ENTIRE FACILTY, inside and out are impressively well maintained. We had our dear 'Teka', to 4 different Vet's in the past 2 years to address a chronic sinus issue, which at time caused her to 'sneeze blood' from her nose.About a month ago when this issue became alarmingly critical, because none of the aforementioned Vet Clinics could get her seen immediately. I was blessed to have found Scottsdale Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center in an internet search and being quite impressed with their reviews.Scottsdale Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center was able to see Teka immediately, and despite being over 30 miles away we rushed there.Upon arrival Dr Craig and 2 staff members were rushing down the hall to meet us and took us immediately back to an exam room. Dr Craig was incredibly thorough and knowledgeable in her assessment of Teka, got her stabilized almost immediately and arranged for us to bring her back the following morning for more intensive testing and imaging.Although the diagnosis was grim and not what we had expected, Dr Craig was as informative, clear, concise, encouraging and empathetic as we had ever experienced in a Veterinarian. She helped us fully understand what/why Teka had experienced and provided us with the means to make the remaining days of her life as tollerable as could ever be attained.Although Scottsdale Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center, is quite the drive from us on the West Side of the Valley, we have found our lifelong Vet Clinic for our remaining 3 'Girls'. 2 of the remaining, Bailey and Callie, which are 3 months away from being 17 y/o and near their life's end.Scottsdale Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Centerwill be our go to Vet for us and the "new additions" to 'the Pack', when we bring Bailey and Callie to the 'Rainbow Bridge' when its their time.A HUGE Kudos to Dr Craig and the ENTIRE STAFF at Scottsdale Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center for being TOP NOTCH in their professionalism, care and knowledge!
July 27 · C David YbarraThe staff was excellent! My pup ate a half corn on-the-cob. And they got him in and out in a couple of hours. He is feeling soo much better now. Thank you team.
September 24 · shy kashmerickBeautiful office and a very kind staff. My dog is having X-rays and blood work done, and if everything comes back normal, then hopefully surgery, too, to remove a fatty tumor on her chest. The staff and surgeons were very straightforward on what my dog needs instead of pushing for extras.
May 02 · Ariel Nicole AlbrightThey are so good its crazy. Really took care of lucy and got her safe from her eye issue. Surgery was great and follow up even better. They are very clean and their one on ones make your very confident they care about your pets. Though, the travel is far for me. I wouldnt hesitate to take any of my pets back there in a moments notice.
December 29 · JESSE JAMES CRISCIONEMy dog was very I'll. They preformed surgery on a Saturday, found what was wrong with him and fixed him up. One week later he is healing well and getting back to normal. Tru pet life savers. Thank you for your immediate care.
